About The Role

Advance Testing Company, an established New York-based construction materials testing and inspection firm and a member of SOCOTEC, has an immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor. For 40 years, Advance Testing has been providing the construction industry with the highest level of aggregate, soil, concrete, asphalt, and steel inspection services throughout the Eastern United States. Typical construction project types include highways, bridges, commercial buildings, airports, tunnels, fabrication plants, material production facilities, government and military sites, and schools.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and scheduling of projects and personnel. They will lead the Operations team, organize and manage employee schedules and related equipment, monitor ongoing projects, maintain communication with field technicians and clients, and ensure that staffing and resources are properly coordinated to meet project demands. The Operations Supervisor will also work closely with department managers and company leadership to identify and resolve operational issues and improve efficiency.

  • Operations Supervisor –RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily operations and scheduling of employees and projects
  • Create, manage, and adjust daily employee schedules based on project requirements and staffing needs
  • Supervise and provide direction to Operations personnel
  • Answer incoming calls and ensure necessary action is taken
  • Monitor employee check-ins and address attendance, scheduling, and coverage issues
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding ongoing projects, scheduling, staffing, and service needs
  • Monitor project staffing and proactively identify potential coverage issues
  • Maintain a punch list for office and building-related tasks and coordinate completion when technicians are available
  • Make hotel reservations for assignments requiring overnight stays
  • Oversee the acquisition, calibration, maintenance, and availability of equipment and vehicles
  • Coordinate the purchasing of equipment and supplies as necessary
  • Work closely with department managers and other departments regarding logistics, staffing, and project requirements
  • Provide technical and operational support to field employees as possible/necessary
  • Identify operational issues and implement solutions to improve efficiency and customer service
  • Assist with training and development of Operations personnel
  • Assist with other projects and responsibilities as needed

  • Operations Supervisor – QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Experience in construction, engineering, materials testing, or a related field preferred
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and make time-sensitive decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Well organized, motivated, and dependable
  • Computer proficient
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and personnel
  • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license
