About The Role

Positions exists for Temporary Potato Receiving Grader/Receiver Operators. The successful applicant will be crewed on shift as required.

The successful applicant must demonstrate a willingness to work together and assist co-workers in processing and downtime. This position encompasses both the grader/receiver operator functions as well as Centralized Grading.

The successful applicant will be crewed to normal shift operation of 12-hour duration.

  • Hourly wage: $21.59/hr
  • Shift: Rotational, 2 days, 2 nights, 12 hr shift
  • Organizing Totes - Organize the potato tote bags that will graded during the day.​
  • Using a tub full of clean water and a wire basket, conduct regular measurements of potato gravity. Record ‘weight in water’ value – multiple measurements must be taken in order to obtain an accurate average specific gravity.​
  • Color tests - Sample Preparation to Determine final product Color​
  • Retrieve a sample of potatoes and according to company and USDA procedure, slice, wash and fry potatoes to be sampled and read using specific QA equipment. If results are not within acceptable color range, or if any mechanical issues are encountered, Grader must notify Raw Receiving Supervisor.​
  • Inspect potato size and defects – Group potatoes according to their defects or size. All incoming potatoes to be graded must first be cleaned.​
  • Unload incoming raw product from trucks into designated bins at the beginning of shift. Consistently monitors product unloading to ensure proper placement of raw product.​
  • Daily/Night Clean Up - Hose floor, clean work area, shovel and remove rocks, unclog flute, clean fat build up in fryer, clean various other equipment as required. Nightly clean up – clean all areas associated with potato receiving at the end of shift.​
  • Truck Weighing - Weigh incoming raw product trucks, record data accurately for contract information and scale ticket.​
  • On occasion, responsible for entering data according to accounting requirements and raw product billing.​
  • Assist during Operational Clean Ups (OCUs), following all OCU procedures and checklists.​
  • Troubleshooting sometimes required for proper operation of grading equipment.

  • Computer skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitation procedures
  • Obtain and maintain the proper chemical training
  • Must attain an acceptable level in all appropriate aptitude evaluations
