Job Description
Crowe's Microsoft focused delivery practice brings together advisory, outcome delivery and managed services across Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, data, automation and AI. The practice is expected to double over the next two years, and this role will help shape how our approximately 20 person India engineering team operates as it grows.
We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who has built strong teams, raised technical standards and improved how complex software is delivered. Deep experience with every Microsoft product is not required. What matters most is engineering judgment, people leadership, learning agility and the ability to work with platform specialists to make sound architecture and delivery decisions.
This is a player coach role. You will remain technically engaged through architecture reviews, critical design decisions, prototypes, complex delivery situations and customer conversations. You will not be expected to be the deepest specialist in every Microsoft technology, but you must be able to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and help teams reach practical, defensible decisions.
What you will do
- Build a high performing engineering organization with clear expectations for quality, ownership, collaboration, technical judgment and continuous improvement.
- Set and evolve engineering and architecture standards across applications, data, cloud, automation, AI, security and integration, partnering with Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure specialists where deep platform expertise is needed.
- Stay close to the work by reviewing critical designs, contributing to prototypes and accelerators, helping resolve complex delivery issues and participating in important client conversations.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into practical solution approaches, including deciding when AI or an agentic workflow is appropriate and when better data, a clearer process or a deterministic solution will serve the client better.
- Coach engineers, technical leads and architects; identify high potential talent; strengthen succession; influence performance decisions; and make difficult talent calls when needed.
- Improve the team's ability to work directly with business users, IT teams, architects and senior leaders, particularly when requirements are incomplete or business processes need to change.
- Help expand the practice across Power Platform, Azure, data, automation, Copilot and agentic AI by creating an environment in which specialists can learn from one another and apply strong engineering fundamentals consistently.
What you will do, continued
- Identify opportunities to automate delivery, reuse components and create Crowe intellectual property that reduces effort, improves quality and increases margin across multiple engagements.
- Establish meaningful measures for throughput, cycle time, predictability, rework, defects, escalations, reuse and team health, then drive visible improvement against them.
- Support solution shaping, estimation, technical workshops, pre sales and executive discussions, connecting technical choices to client outcomes, delivery risk and commercial value.
- Partner with practice leadership to turn repeatable delivery patterns into fixed fee or managed services offerings with clear scope, architecture, delivery playbooks and operating measures.
What success looks like
Within your first year, you will have
- Raised the engineering bar. Teams are operating with clearer standards, stronger architecture discipline and greater ownership of difficult decisions.
- Strengthened the leadership bench. Technical leads and high potential engineers are visibly more capable, and expectations and performance decisions are clearer.
- Improved delivery health. Predictability, cycle time, quality, escalations and rework are measured, understood and moving in the right direction.
- Put reuse to work. Components, delivery patterns, automation and AI enabled workflows are being applied across multiple engagements rather than remaining isolated within one project.
- Built credibility across the Microsoft practice. Platform specialists see you as a leader who improves their decisions and effectiveness, even when they have deeper product expertise.
- Earned client trust. Clients and colleagues involve you in ambiguous, high consequence technical and delivery decisions.
- Opened a stronger commercial path. The practice has a growing pipeline of repeatable fixed fee or managed services offerings supported by real delivery playbooks.
- Developed practical fluency across Crowe's Microsoft portfolio and a clear understanding of where specialist depth is required.
Required experience
- Ten or more years of software engineering experience, including at least five years leading engineering teams in a global or distributed environment.
- A demonstrated record of building high performing teams, developing leaders, mentoring engineers and improving engineering culture and delivery outcomes.
- Strong technical foundations across modern application architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, integrations, data, security, automation and software delivery practices.
Required experience, continued
- Experience setting technical standards and leading architecture or design decisions across complex products, platforms or client engagements.
- Sufficient hands on depth to review designs, challenge technical assumptions, guide prototypes and lead teams through difficult engineering problems.
- Experience with AI enabled software, automation or data driven solutions, including the judgment to evaluate whether AI is appropriate for a business problem.
- Strong client and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate between business outcomes, engineering tradeoffs and delivery risk.
- Experience leading through a meaningful business or engineering transformation that changed how work was performed, not simply which system was used.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, taking ownership and making progress before every detail is known.
Preferred experience
- Experience with one or more parts of the Microsoft business applications and cloud ecosystem, such as Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Search.
- Experience in consulting or professional services, including scoped client engagements, solution shaping, estimation and technical workshops.
- Experience leading production AI enabled or agentic solutions with appropriate evaluation, security, governance and human oversight.
- Exposure to fixed fee delivery, managed services, reusable intellectual property or other approaches that improve delivery leverage and margin.
- Business process experience in areas such as customer service, sales, field service, finance, operations, risk or compliance.
How we will support your success
You will work closely with experienced Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure practitioners who provide deep product expertise. In turn, you will help those specialists apply stronger engineering methods, architecture discipline, people leadership and delivery practices. We expect you to build practical Microsoft fluency quickly, while being candid about where specialist input is needed.
Mindset we value
- You make other engineers and leaders better, remain technically engaged and do not need to be the expert in every room.
- You automate unnecessary work, communicate clearly, seek evidence, invite challenge and own outcomes across people, technology, delivery and clients.
What It Means to Be a Consultant at Crowe
Consulting is a dynamic business focused on solving problems for our clients and serving our core markets through innovative solutions. As technology and AI continue to reshape the consulting landscape, we are looking for individuals who are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn. At Crowe, consultants are expected to build both technical and transferable skills, think critically, and use technology to solve real business problems. In this role, you will continuously learn, collaborate across teams, and explore how tools, including emerging AI capabilities, can improve efficiency, insights, and client outcomes.
In management at Crowe, you play a pivotal role in leading teams, guiding project execution, and deepening client relationships. You are expected to contribute to account planning, identify opportunities to add value, and ensure high-quality delivery. As your responsibilities expand, you take on broader account ownership, balancing project leadership with growing involvement in client strategy and solution development.
Success in this role comes from a growth mindset, strong communication skills, advanced critical thinking, and the ability to navigate new challenges with confidence.
Beyond that, we're looking for someone who
- Has an automation mindset — the instinct is to eliminate the work, not just scale the number of people doing it.
- Communicates just as well in front of an engineering team as in front of a client's leadership, without needing two different vocabularies to do it.
- Takes ownership without waiting for permission and is willing to move before the path is fully clear.
- Has led through a real business transformation before — a change in how work actually gets done, not just a system migration.
We expect the candidate to uphold Crowe’s values of Care, Trust, Courage, and Stewardship. These values define who we are. We expect all of our people to act ethically and with integrity at all times.
