Product Owner
Quilt Health · Boston, MA, United States
About The Role
About Quilt Health
Quilt Health is dedicated to accelerating the delivery of life-changing treatments for rare and intricate medical conditions, with an initial focus on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and complex hematology. While we are witnessing a historic surge in biopharmaceutical breakthroughs capable of reshaping patient outcomes, the actual pathways to accessing these innovations remain disjointed, slow, and fundamentally unequal.
We are bridging this gap by developing a comprehensive infrastructure of software and specialized services that unify patients, healthcare providers, community organizations, and industry partners. By serving as an operational catalyst, our platform optimizes clinical workflows and research initiatives, facilitates therapy access, and removes the systemic hurdles that often prevent scientific advancements from reaching the people who need them most.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Product Owner who will manage our mobile application. This is a blended role that would require you to think strategically about the product roadmap while also driving the day-to-day tactical execution that turns strategy into shipped features - sprint planning, backlog grooming, and hands-on guidance for the engineering and design teams. Working closely with and reporting to our Head of Product, you’ll have significant room to shape the application’s direction and impact. This role would be best suited for someone who is energized by creating clarity out of ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
If you’re excited about the opportunity to join a mission-driven organization and take ownership of a product from its early stages to maturity, this could be the perfect role for you!
Responsibilities
- Obsess over customers and lead with empathy as your super power. Develop a deep understanding of the needs of patients and caregivers navigating complex conditions, and translate those needs into product opportunities.
- Partner with the Head of Product to evolve and bring to life the mobile app's roadmap and vision.
- Identify and prioritize the highest-impact problems to solve given Quilt's stage, resources, and business needs.
- Champion product quality by identifying and addressing the small details that meaningfully improve usability, functionality, and customer experience.
- Own the mobile app backlog: write clear user stories and acceptance criteria and keep the backlog groomed and prioritized.
- Run sprint planning, stand-ups, and retros in partnership with Engineering.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for Engineering and Design, providing clarity on requirements and unblocking decisions quickly.
- Define and track key product metrics; use data and user feedback to inform iteration.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Business Development to ensure releases are well-supported and aligned with broader company goals.
- Manage QA/UAT processes for releases and ensure a high bar for quality and usability.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Located in or near Boston, MA or willing to relocate
- 3+ years of experience in product management or product ownership, including some start up experience
- Demonstrated experience with managing mobile application products
- Comfortable operating in high-ambiguity, fast-changing environments. Able to define scope and priorities without waiting for perfect information
- Experience owning a product backlog and running agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retros)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A builder's mindset — comfortable with a lean team, evolving processes, and wearing multiple hats
- Genuine interest in healthcare, patient experience, or mission-driven work
- Experience in health tech, digital health, or a regulated industry is a plus but not required
- ● Medical, dental, and vision benefits
- ● Employer paid short and long term disability
- ● Employer paid life and AD&D coverage
- ● Generous flexible time off policy
