About The Role
In response to increased concurrent projects for the delivery of our data centers, Oracle is recruiting a Lead Principle Commissioning Engineer. The role is a senior multi-disciplinary data center commissioning lead with a focus all levels of commissioning activities up to IST, and responsible for the direct interface between Oracle and our data center partners in the completion and testing of building systems to bring a data center reliably to ready for service and eventually turn over to operations.
With extensive experience reviewing design and delivering mission critical facilities, professional qualifications in mechanical, control or electrical engineering with a commissioning focus. The role is responsible for setting Oracle’s stance for commissioning activities and working with our delivery, construction and collocation partners to ensure successful IST and turnover to operations.
Location: San Antionio, TX
- Oversight of the commissioning of multiple lease provider projects. Providing guidance and engineering leadership to ensure project quality, commissioning and engineering initiatives are meeting or exceeding company expectations.
- Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairs. Ability to apply knowledge of Oracle processes, procedures and industry standards to resolve issues.
- Utilizes safe working practices at an EXPERT level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, can explain MDS, etc.). Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of others.
- Interacts with other engineering disciplines; Working with the colocation providers engineering teams to ensure all systems are adequately designed, specified and installed to deliver robust operations for Oracle.
- Contributes to identifying and developing training programs for mentoring junior team members. Acquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training, participation in industry groups or meetings and shadowing others. Is SME with many systems and trains others inside and outside of the group.
- Provides expert input for effective contract administration including generation and review of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation.
- Expert level of communications; Including cross functional SOP development and relevant technical writing. Interactions are primarily to collaborate between departments within the organization.
- Lead the interaction for Oracle with datacenter partners for successful commissioning of all electrical, control and mechanical systems, including but not limited to primary and back up electrical plant, mechanical plant, life safety and fire suppression systems, building monitoring and controls systems.
- Review of all commissioning testing procedures used to verify data center equipment, subsystems and systems work as intended as per the basis of design, sequence of operations and owners project requirements.
- Contribute to the design specifications of Oracle to ensure the contracting of reliable, resilient, and efficient data centers.
- Travel can be up to two weeks a month and candidate must live in or be willing to move to San Antionio.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
11 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or data center related field
OR
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND 7 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or data center related field
OR
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND 5 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or data center related field.
Job Skills
- Compliance: Demonstrated experience and ability to research, interpret, and apply relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure project compliance.
- Mechanical Design: Demonstrated experience specifying and designing mechanical and electromechanical components for data center infrastructure.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate, listen, and reach agreement across diverse stakeholders.
- Safety Design: Knowledge of safety engineering and regulations, with experience integrating safety considerations and complying with standards in design and commissioning.
- Mechanical Systems Integration: Demonstrated experience integrating mechanical systems with electronics or embedded components.

Budget Experience
2 years of experience working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
Safety Certification
Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10 Certification OR Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30 Certification or equivalent.
National Fire Protection Association Certification
National Fire Protection Association Certification 70E
