Investigative Trainer
We are looking for an experienced investigative professional to join us as an Investigative Trainer, supporting the design, development and delivery of high-quality investigative training across the Force.
You'll lead on training programmes at PIP 2 level and above, ensuring learning remains current, operationally relevant and aligned with legislation, College of Policing guidance and professional standards. You'll also work as part of the wider Investigative Training team, supporting a broader portfolio of courses and responding to emerging Force learning needs. This is an opportunity to use your investigative experience in a different way - developing others, sharing your expertise and helping ensure our people have the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to perform effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deliver and evaluate investigative training programmes at PIP 2 level and above.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, investigative practice, procedures and College of Policing guidance, ensuring learning materials remain accurate and effective.
- Assess learner performance and competence, providing constructive feedback and development support where required.
- Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports different learning needs and enables individuals to develop their potential.
- Maintain competence across a portfolio of investigative courses, providing subject matter expertise and wider trainer resilience.
- Support the development of learning packages in response to emerging operational priorities and Force requirements.
Who We're Looking For
You'll have a strong operational investigative background at PIP 2 level or above, with the knowledge and experience to confidently support the development of others. You'll be able to translate complex investigative legislation, practice and procedures into clear engaging learning, while creating an inclusive environment where learners can build their confidence and competence.
You'll bring experience of
- Working within an operational investigative environment at PIP 2 level or above.
- Applying current investigative legislation, practice and procedures.
- Communicating complex information clearly and effectively to others.
- Assessing performance, providing constructive feedback and supporting development.
- Working collaboratively, adapting to changing operational priorities and maintaining high professional standards.

Important Information
Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon you successfully passing medical checks, which may if required include a drugs and hearing test.
