About The Role

As an Engineer – Interior / Exterior Parts Design, you will be a key contributor to our Global team in Chennai, reporting to the CAD Manager LL6. This role is critical to the product development cycle, specifically supporting Post FDJ Gateways. You will be responsible for Designing, Verifying and Validating CAD Designs for PMT1 & PMT2 components using a suite of specialized tools including WERS, CATIA, Vismockup, E2KS, PADB, FordDoc. You will be responsible for Change Notice based design, Verification and Validation: from analysing FEDE/E2KS/C3PNG, then release parts in FORD database. Additionally, you will oversee the compatibility of drawings, ensuring all deliverables meet Ford’s global standards and timelines.

  • Deliver Design change modifications of Vehicle Interior and Exterior components for global and region-specific programs.
  • BOM Validation: Utilize WERS B-Screen to understand design complexity before performing Design change.
  • Markup Creation : Identify issues based on requirements in CATIA/ Vismockup, create markup of issues identified for issue resolution.
  • PLM Integration: Ensure release of 3D parts are done in Team Centre and Drawing in Ford Doc.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate with D&R Engineers / Vehicle Architecture teams to Understand Design Change contents, resolve DPA1 issues, WERS issues.
  • Quality Control: Ensure every part getting released must meet Design and FECDS requirements along with internal QC check list.
  • Innovation: Actively participate in efficiency initiatives, such as transitioning to new visualization tools or automating workflows.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Automobile/Production) or related disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Automotive Product Development and Change Notices based Design, and DPA1 assessments.
  • Proven experience of performing KPAC assessments in E2KS and P-Release for components within a Ford environment is highly preferred.

Functional/Technical Skills

  • Software Proficiency: Auros (E2KS).
  • CAD/Visualization: Catia V5, and Vis-Mockup and 3DX ready.
  • Data Management: Good Knowledge of WERS & Teamcenter, understanding of Control Models based on BOM complexity.
  • Vehicle Architecture: Good knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems, sub-systems.
  • Requirements Understandings: Awareness of PMT1 & PMT2 component requirement standards and understanding of DPA1 requirements.
  • Quality Tools: Knowledge of FMEAs and engineering quality standards.
