Job Description
Position: Telecoms Climbing Electrician
Location: South East & South West England
Reporting To: Regional Operations Manager
Role Purpose
To carry out electrical maintenance, inspections, testing, remedial works, installations and fault-finding activities on telecoms infrastructure sites, including towers, masts, rooftops and associated equipment compounds. The role requires the ability to safely climb telecoms structures and support both planned and reactive works across the South East and South West regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on telecoms sites.
- Carry out electrical inspections, testing, certification, fault-finding and repairs.
- Complete remedial works in line with statutory and client requirements.
- Install and maintain electrical distribution systems, lighting, power supplies and associated infrastructure.
- Work safely on telecoms towers, masts and rooftop sites where climbing is required.
- Complete all reports, certification and job documentation accurately and within required timescales.
- Ensure compliance with company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Support emergency response and reactive maintenance activities.
- Identify and report additional works opportunities.
- Participate in the company on-call rota.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- ECS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Telecoms industry experience.
- Tower, Mast & Rooftop Climbing certification.
- RF Awareness certification.
- Experience in electrical fault-finding, maintenance, inspection, testing and certification.
- Ability to work independently across the South East and South West regions.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- IPAF.
- First Aid at Work.
- Experience working on mobile network operator sites.
- Experience with generators, UPS systems, DC power systems and telecoms infrastructure.
