  • The role is expected to lead a dynamic team to entrench the standards and controls encapsulated in the enterprise-wide Frameworks for Data and Model Risk to meet its regulatory obligations and digitalization objectives.
  • The DMO works closely with Group Data Management Office (GDMO) to carry out its remit.

What you do

The candidate will lead the Data Management Office (OCBC Malaysia), driving Data Governance, Data Quality, Model Risk Management, and AI Governance to ensure effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and trusted data for business decision-making. The role requires close collaboration with business, risk, technology, and governance stakeholders across the Bank to strengthen data and model controls, ensure data is fit-for-purpose, and drive the governance of the OCBC Malaysia’s model and AI use, aligned with regulatory and governance requirements.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills is required, with the ability to engage effectively with GDMO leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across the Bank to build consensus and drive pragmatic, win-win solutions that align with the bank’s strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities include the following

  • Establish and oversee OCBC Malaysia’s data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls in alignment with the Group’s practice and compliance to BNM’ guidelines.
  • Drive data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data lineage, and data governance.
  • Enhance data quality by implementing regular monitoring and reporting, and following up with data quality issue remediation.
  • Implement Model Risk Management, including model inventory, validation oversight, model lifecycle governance, and model risk monitoring.
  • Establish model/AI governance including Responsible Model Use practices, maintaining the model/AI inventory, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements relating to data, models, and AI governance, ensuring timely implementation.
  • Provide regular governance reporting and risk insights to senior management, risk committees, and regulators.
  • Lead strategic data/model governance and risk transformation initiatives and promote a strong risk culture.
  • Continuously improve reporting and analysis processes, while implementing automation to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and independent validators, to facilitate smooth compliance reviews and the timely resolution of governance findings.

Who you are

  • Degree in Data Science, Technology, Mathematics, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Model Risk Management, AI Governance, or Risk Management.
  • Proven leadership experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory expectations, data governance frameworks, model risk, and AI risk management.
