About The Role
The Quality Engineer, reporting directly to the Quality Manager, is responsible for Quality Planning as part of contract review, document control functions including externally provided and internally generated. Participate and lead Quality Assurance audits, monitoring functions within the plant and assists in the management of the quality management system to assure compliance with Company and regulatory policies, procedures and specifications. Develop and lead quality assurance improvement programs for continuous improvement. Manage the development and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy.
- Develop and analyze statistical and product/process performance data to recommend and implement improvements. Provide Quality support with the objective of improving process performance and capability.
- Execute the initiatives of the organization in the development, implementation, and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation with all the documentation required. This includes providing advanced quality planning support in the development and launch of new products, processes, and services, along with continuous improvement of existing product lines.
- Provide Quality interface and expertise between the organization and its customers to proactively assure that needs and expectations are understood and satisfied. This includes contract review/flow down, the compliance management process, and the implementation of corresponding corrective/preventive actions.
- Provide expertise in Quality Assurance and process improvement tools and methods to support continuous improvement activities. Recommend policies, procedures and standards to leverage best practices and standardized manufacturing processes
- Facilitate the investigation and elimination of quality problems and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Participate in all aspects of new product introduction.
- Participate in the Internal Auditing Program designed to ensure compliance with established standards to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products.
- Lead the Quality Planning activity within contract review to ensure the business is able to comply with the customer purchase order requirements.
- Facilitate the Specification Management System including regular audits of the system.
- Assist in preparation for regulatory audits utilizing required tools.
- Develop, implement, and conduct training programs to increase Quality Assurance skills
- Assist in the management of the Corrective/Preventative action system (Q-Pulse).
- Lead Risk Assessment activities related to equipment, suppliers, customer requirements and processes.
- Oversee Calibration program and ensure compliance with established standards, as well as supporting the facilitation of the Quarterly Management Review.
- Coordinate and Lead the Material Review Board meetings.
- Assist in preparation for regulatory audits utilizing required tools.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Quality role within a complex manufacturing environment. Aerospace and applicable regulatory authority knowledge/experience desired.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Technology, Quality, or other technical fields.
- Experience utilizing problem-solving methods, i.e., 8D, root cause analysis, etc., and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems. Six Sigma and Lean experience, preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems such as AS131000, AS9100, ISO-9001, or any other industry-specific standard or regulation, certification and implementation knowledge a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T and its principles, proficient in blue-print reading.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Project management skills
- Ability to analyze data to use in sound decision making.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20%
Preferred Qualifications
- Program Quality experience with Prime Engine Suppliers and associated Portals is preferred.
- Knowledge of effective new product development and launch system. Strong knowledge of the associated tools used in APQP and PPAP processes such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Key Characteristics, Measurement System Analysis, Process Capability, Process Flow, Preventive Maintenance, etc.
- Lead auditor qualification.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications
- Metals manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP. Q-Pulse experience a plus.
