Supervisor, Mechanical

We are currently based at Metropolis, Buona Vista, Singapore.

Work Nature

  1. Independent on regular nature of work, uses personal experience, Team Works, applies relevant company policies and procedures.

Construction Quality Activities

  1. Oversee the Mechanical construction scope including static, rotating, Mechanical package and not limited to monitoring, coordinating, receiving, installation, alignment, reporting which consists of several inter-related discipline in the FPSO construction plan or oversee a Topsides Fabrication / Marine Yard / Integration Yard, independently.
  2. Supervise and inspect yard’s Mechanical construction day-to-day activities and provide monitoring status including progress, issues, and concerns.
  3. Apply knowledge in Mechanical construction to improve constructability, quality, and productivities.
  4. Organize, direct, inspect and supervise yard to ensure construction procedures strictly follow latest drawings and specifications, comply to regulatory requirements, and fulfill equipment vendor’s specifications.
  5. Review material delivery forecast schedule in line with the requirements of project schedule to facilitate timely completion of the project. Coordinate with material procurement and logistic team regarding the delivery status, shortage, or damage materials.
  6. Verify and ensure the safe unloading of static and rotating equipment from the delivery trucks and transport them to the installation site using appropriate lifting and handling equipment.
  7. Ensure that all Mechanical preservation is maintained, protected and free from debris or any foreign materials.
  8. Ensure subcontractor personnel are qualify, competent, train with appropriate certificate as per project requirements.
  9. Inspect and verify the foundation support structures, or base plates for holding static and rotating equipment according to design specifications.
  10. Verify and ensure the correct positioning and alignment of the equipment, for rotating equipment, the alignment process often includes coupling alignment between the driver and driven equipment.
  11. Secure the equipment to the foundation or support structures using appropriate anchoring methods.
  12. Assemble and install the equipment, connecting auxiliary components such as platform, ladders, gratings, valves, and loose supplied Items.
  13. Coordinate with other disciplines to establish piping connections, electrical connection, control system, instrumentation, marking, painting, Insulation and fireproof for the equipment.
  14. Ensure that subcontractor having relevant Mechanical documents and performing the MODEC Furnish Equipment [MFE] Installation / Preservation as per Vendor Requirements
  15. Conduct inspections and quality checks to confirm that equipment installation meet regulatory standards and project requirements.
  16. Participate tri-party system walk, identify, and raise punch list for outstanding items.
  17. Implement Construction Quality Surveillance Check List
  18. Follow-up ITR and Closeout in timely manner

Communications

  1. Maintain good relationship with team members, reporting directly to Mechanical superintendent.
  2. Interact with internal and external departments including but not limited to engineering departments, vendors, engineering subcontractor, construction subcontractor and Client.
  3. Facilitate communications with functional teams to ensure that issues are identified and incorporated into schedules and execution plan.

Documentation

  1. Review / update / produce Construction documents including Best Work Practices for Construction Methodology periodically as appropriate.
  2. Review and ensure all latest engineering deliverables are being received in line with forecast schedules

  1. Complies with the MODEC HSSE Policies and Standard as described in the HSSE Commitment Statement. HSSE Standards, and the HSSE Procedures to always protect people and the environment. Has a duty of care to ensure that all personnel work in a manner that is not harmful to their own health and safety and the health and safety of others.

  1. Must not disclose the confidential technical / non-technical information to any unauthorized person / company / competitors.

  3. Strong Working Knowledge of contractual documentation (contracts, waivers, addendums, annexes, scope changes, contractual schedule, etc.) and ensures planning and execution complies with contractual requirements.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills in to guide & communicate information to multi-national personnel and different levels of work force and a large variety of vendors and fabricators.

Work Conditions

  1. Spends 100% at Site Construction Environment. Will be assigned to work full time at selected of the appointed project site, including international locations where applicable.
  2. Normal exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, chemicals, working at height for construction site environment.

Qualifications

  1. Batchelor’s Degree or Technical college certificate
  2. Certification in a Trade Certification with track record of construction of at least 3 FPSO projects with Mechanical fabrication, integration of marine and topside modules.
  3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas area or FPSO EPC
  4. Valid CSWIP 3.1 (Level 2) / AWS: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (is an optional advantage).
  5. Familiarity with NR-13 inspection requirements (is an optional advantage)

Technical Competencies

  1. Computer skills including Mobile Devices with proficiency in Microsoft 365, 3D Model Viewer and PDF
  2. knowledge in construction management, project management, construction methodology principles, quality assurance and HSSE requirements.
  3. Strong working knowledge of marine construction AND / OR topsides modules Mechanical construction and preservation.
  4. Strong understanding of Mechanical systems, equipment, machinery, and industry-specific requirements and the supervisor should be knowledgeable about safety procedures and quality assurance measures.
