Role Overview

A Risk Advisory Business Partner works closely with the business units to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and financial risks. They integrate risk management into strategic and change management initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Additionally, they provide expert advice and support in mitigating and managing risk exposure in a commercial way, deliver meaningful analysis and reporting to both the business and senior management, ensure compliance with the risk framework and business continuity management requirements, and conduct training to enhance risk awareness and competency across the organization.

Role Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and manage operational, strategic, regulatory, and emerging risks, ensuring risk considerations are embedded within key decision-making processes.
  • Provide independent challenge and advisory support across risk assessments, control evaluations, strategic initiatives, new business activities, and change programmes.
  • Support the development, monitoring, and governance of risk appetite, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and broader risk management frameworks.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of controls, policies, and governance arrangements, driving remediation of identified weaknesses and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Monitor the business risk profile and provide meaningful management information, analysis, reporting, and insight to support senior management, governance forums, and risk committees.
  • Support the management and investigation of risk events, issues, policy breaches, and control failures, ensuring appropriate escalation, root cause analysis, and sustainable remediation.
  • Provide oversight and challenge of business continuity, operational resilience, and crisis management activities, supporting preparedness and recovery planning across the business.
  • Promote a strong risk culture by delivering training, awareness initiatives, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Provide regional risk advisory support, ensuring compliance with applicable governance, regulatory, and risk management requirements.

Experience / Competencies

Essential

  • 3-5 years' experience within Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or Risk Advisory functions in a medium to large financial services organisation.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk management frameworks, methodologies, and industry best practice.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, control evaluations, and issue remediation activities.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, trading environments, and associated regulatory obligations.
  • Understanding of Energy & Commodities markets and associated products.
  • Familiarity with post-trade processes and the operational lifecycle supporting financial market activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and operate as a trusted advisor across diverse business functions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

  • Experience within an Interdealer Broker, Capital Markets, Trading, Commodities, or Market Infrastructure environment.
  • Understanding of electronic trading and algorithmic trading activities.
  • Professional qualification or certification in Risk Management, Audit, Governance, or Financial Services (e.g., FRM, PRM, IRM, ICA, CIA).
  • Experience supporting strategic change programmes, new business initiatives, or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Knowledge of business continuity, resilience, and crisis management frameworks.
  • Exposure to assurance reviews, control testing, or thematic risk reviews.

Compensation Range

  • USD 140,000 - 160,000
