How You’ll Make an Impact

The Laboratory Technician I is an entry-level role in our Molecular Biology Team responsible for processing Plasmid DNA Prep orders for internal and external customers. Laboratory Technicians will perform Plasmid DNA production/isolation procedures, perform QC workflows, and package orders for shipment to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work within team for daily DNA preparation – including handling bacteria cultures, agar plates, and sterile DNA material, prepping at all scales.
  • Receive and sort incoming orders using established workflows
  • Independently operate laboratory equipment including but not limited to pipettes, gel electrophoresis equipment including gel imager, centrifuges, autoclaves, shakers, and spectrophotometers.
  • Ability to use internal documentation systems (LabUI) in detail
  • Package and ship final products to customers
  • Preparation of in-lab reagents & other similar duties as assigned
  • Extended periods of time standing or sitting, operating lab computers and equipment while wearing a lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Training previous levels as needed
  • Perform other molecular biology protocols as assigned -Transformations, overnight cultures, sterility procedures for sample verification.
  • Manage inventory and replenish consumable supplies
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness & aseptic techniques for all in-house materials
  • Document and track daily reagent generation, materials generated for other departments, log monthly safety checks for eye wash etc
  • Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment
  • Follow SOPs accurately and precisely
  • Prepare supplies including but not limited to bacterial media, agar plates, flasks, buffers, antibiotic solutions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you will need

  • High School Diploma required and A.S. Degree or B.S degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of any work experience required, but 1+ years of hands-on lab work experience preferred .
  • Previous experience using pipettes, cleaning dishware, sterilization/autoclave, vacuum filtration, pH meter is preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to bend & lift +35 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to wear PPE including but not limited to: Lab Coats, Safety glasses, Face covering, gloves for extended period of time
  • Comfortable working with various chemicals

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong recordkeeping skills
  • Review & follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Desire to learn new processes and support a growing team
  • Experience and/or desire to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
  • Experience with basic laboratory equipment including but not limited to micropipettes, beakers, balances, serological pipettes etc.

United States Base Compensation: $16.50 - $20.50

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure.
