Senior Quality Test Engineer I

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Quality Test Engineer I to join our Quality Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive test planning, execution, automation, and continuous improvement of testing practices. This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for web, API, and backend applications.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define quality acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects and recommend preventive actions.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into deployment workflows.
  • Validate application performance, reliability, and scalability as required.
  • Review requirements, designs, and technical specifications to ensure testability and quality coverage.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and promote quality engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Engineering function.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
  • Strong experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
  • Experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of database testing and SQL queries.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
