Project Information

ACCIONA is building the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth. This AU$2.8 billion project will supply drinking water to Western Australians from 2028. Join a ten-year alliance with Water Corporation and Jacobs, delivering clean water for a growing city. (263 characters)

Position Overview

This role ensures all construction activities meet established quality standards and regulations. Responsibilities include developing and implementing quality control plans, conducting inspections and audits, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborating with project teams to address quality issues. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of workmanship and ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects.

Key accountabilities for the position will be

  • Inspect welds on steel, stainless and duplex pipework
  • Check work meets AS/NZS 1554 and ASME IX standards
  • Verify WPS, PQR and welder qualifications
  • Carry out VT, MT and PT inspections on site
  • Review UT and RT reports to confirm weld quality
  • Record and track non-conformances and rework
  • Keep clear, accurate QA records and weld maps

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Welding Inspection Certification — CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (WTIA, AWS CWI)
  • Trade Background — Recognised trade qualification in fabrication, welding, or mechanical fitting.
  • Standards Knowledge — Strong understanding of AS/NZS 1554, ASME IX, API standards, and project‑specific welding procedures.
  • Ability to review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, and welder qualifications.
  • Desalination/Process Plant Experience — Experience with stainless steel, duplex, super‑duplex, and corrosion‑resistant alloys used in water treatment and desalination facilities.
  • Quality Assurance Experience — Familiarity with ITPs, NCRs, weld traceability, heat‑number control, and inspection documentation.
  • Ability to obtain Pre-employment Medical and National Crime Check
