About The Role
Job Description Summary
Engine Dynamics builds analytical models of the full engine or rig to enable design assessment, calculation of unbalance and flight maneuver design loads, and to assist in vibration related problem solving and test data interpretation for tech maturation, new and fielded products. A Senior Staff Engineer within Engine Dynamics is a recognized subject matter expert within the discipline who interfaces with design, Systems, and the customer, develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities
As an Engine Dynamics Senior Staff Engineer, you will
- Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
- Lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business as a recognized expert in a specialized field.
- Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions.
- Effectively communicate in technical and strategic settings with various audiences.
- Drive systems thinking, risk abatement, and problem solving. Be adept at identifying team member strengths to efficiently lead teams in problem solving.
- Understands tasks in adjacent/related technical areas. Demonstrate expertise at synthesizing insights across technical areas to enable project execution as appropriate.
- Effectively delegate within the global team to increase capacity and capability.
- Coach, train, and mentor within team and across teams in discipline. Effective at mentorship on pertinent engineering business processes, adjacent business processes, and communication skills.
- Effectively apply at project management - planning, resourcing, and execution. Escalate when necessary and resolve priority conflicts.
- Apply Flight Deck principles where appropriate. SQDC prioritization, Own KPIs and drive action plans, continuous improvement, and going to Gemba
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence Systems integration and business approaches across key stakeholders.
- Maintain a culture of psychological safety where all voices are heard, respected, and encouraged particularly when leading efforts.
- Advocate of IP awareness and identifies opportunities within the organization. Provides recommendations to the CTH/Design board IP process.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, from an accredited university or college.
- At least 10 additional years of in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position or equivalent experience
Desired Characteristics
- Strong familiarity with engine dynamics design principles
- Familiarity with rotor dynamics’ analysis methods and theory
- Experience in vibration testing, vibration analysis and rotor balancing processes
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Familiarity with NASTRAN, LSDYNA or other finite element computer codes (modeling and dynamic analysis)
- Familiarity with Matlab/Python
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding, and capability of the business
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational ability.
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to teach and set standard practices within this field
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
