Purpose of the Role
The Springer Nature Editor Engagement Team works to engage and mobilise the external community of over 100,000 Editors and Editorial Board Members (EBMs). The Manager, Editor Training is responsible for the end-to-end development and delivery of high-quality research integrity training content to ensure Springer Nature’s external Editors, Editorial Board Members (EBMs), Reviewers and Guest Editors have the required skills and knowledge to become first-class in their roles. Working with teams across Springer Nature, you will design engaging eLearning courses, with a focus on research integrity, for our centralised training platform, the Springer Nature Editorial Academy.
The location strategy supports team structure and aligns business needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Programme development: Managing the day-to-day running of the editorial training programme and supporting its continued growth in line with organisational objectives. Responsibilities include:
- Working with the Senior Manager, Editor Training to deliver the Editor Engagement Team strategy, including conducting needs analysis and implementing a roadmap for research integrity training - Collaboration, Decision Quality
- Collaborating with the Editor Training Team to maintain and update the training programme to provide a high-quality and positive experience for users - Project Management, Develops Talent
- Coordinating monthly reporting on analytics and progress against KPIs - Data analytics / Quantitative Skills
- Researching and self-educating to stay abreast of best practice in training and editorial workflows - Adult Learning Principles
- Content creation and delivery: Creating task and role-specific training outputs in collaboration with key subject matter experts. Responsibilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end development of training courses and learning pathways targeted to specific editorial roles, from needs analysis and content creation to delivery and ongoing updates - Project Management, Adult Learning Principles, Collaboration, Facilitation Skills
- Supporting the administration and ongoing maintenance of the Springer Nature Editorial Academy, ensuring effective setup of courses, users, enrolments, reports and other configurations - Project Management, Decision Quality
- Collaborating with internal and external subject matter experts on training development, gathering regular feedback and working iteratively on deliverables - Collaboration, Communicates Effectively, Consulting Skills, Facilitation Skills
- Using eLearning software applications to create and develop online courses - Adult Learning Principles
- Overseeing the planning and execution of live webinars, providing an engaging learning experience for participants - Project Management, Facilitation Skills, Communicates Effectively, Collaboration, Consulting Skills
- Ensuring the training programme meets established standards for quality and accessibility throughout the development process.
Skills, experience & qualifications
Essential
- Experience developing and delivering engaging training programmes using a variety of learning approaches and formats, including eLearning, webinars and hybrid learning content.
- A university degree or equivalent experience
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to translate complex topics into effective learning experiences
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to agreed timelines
- Experience working with global and cross-functional teams
- Desirable: Understanding of scholarly publishing, peer review processes and research integrity
Desirable
- Strong instructional design and content development skills
- Working knowledge of tools and software used to create and deliver training content
- S trong project management skills and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to tailor content for different audiences, learning needs and delivery channels
- High attention to detail and commitment to accessibility and inclusive learning practices
- Collaborative, adaptable and self-motivated approach
