About The Role
Position Title : Area Manager
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Managers are responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. This position serves as a frontline operational leader and cultural driver, acting as an agent of positive change while demonstrating personal integrity, accountability, and a strong commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and oversee all shift production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Monitor daily production metrics and take immediate corrective action when performance deviates from plan.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the production floor.
- Lead detailed, professional, and transparent shift turnovers to ensure operational continuity.
- Champion a safety-first culture; enforce safety standards and promptly address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with company environmental programs and all applicable State of Indiana laws and regulations.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, blueprint/specification interpretation, and measurement practices.
- Utilize basic SPC and other data-driven tools to monitor and improve performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Provide clear, consistent communication regarding business conditions, priorities, and expectations.
- Conduct timely 30-60-90 day probationary reviews and annual performance evaluations.
- Develop and execute individual development plans for direct reports.
- Build bench strength through structured succession planning.
- Coach, mentor, and hold team members accountable to performance standards.
- Address performance and behavioral issues promptly and professionally.
- Support staffing plans, scheduling, and labor management.
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Participate in required internal and external training programs.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of production or operations experience.
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to drive accountability and performance within a team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
- Working knowledge of measurement techniques and basic Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective coaching, conflict resolution, and team development skills.
- Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of personal integrity and accountability.
