Position Title : Area Manager

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Managers are responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. This position serves as a frontline operational leader and cultural driver, acting as an agent of positive change while demonstrating personal integrity, accountability, and a strong commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct and oversee all shift production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
Monitor daily production metrics and take immediate corrective action when performance deviates from plan.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the production floor.
Lead detailed, professional, and transparent shift turnovers to ensure operational continuity.
Champion a safety-first culture; enforce safety standards and promptly address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Ensure compliance with company environmental programs and all applicable State of Indiana laws and regulations.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, blueprint/specification interpretation, and measurement practices.
Utilize basic SPC and other data-driven tools to monitor and improve performance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Provide clear, consistent communication regarding business conditions, priorities, and expectations.
Conduct timely 30-60-90 day probationary reviews and annual performance evaluations.
Develop and execute individual development plans for direct reports.
Build bench strength through structured succession planning.
Coach, mentor, and hold team members accountable to performance standards.
Address performance and behavioral issues promptly and professionally.
Support staffing plans, scheduling, and labor management.
Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
Participate in required internal and external training programs.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of production or operations experience.
Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to drive accountability and performance within a team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
Working knowledge of measurement techniques and basic Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective coaching, conflict resolution, and team development skills.
Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
High level of personal integrity and accountability.
