Job Summary

TYLin is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Wayfinding to lead the planning, design, and implementation of comprehensive wayfinding solutions for major airport terminal redevelopment programs in the northeast.

This role is ideal for a licensed Architect who understands that exceptional airport design extends beyond buildings, it creates intuitive, accessible, and seamless passenger journeys. Working as part of a multidisciplinary aviation team, you will oversee the delivery of integrated wayfinding systems that enhance passenger experience, improve operational efficiency, and support the long-term vision of world-class airport facilities.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience delivering wayfinding and environmental graphics programs within active airport environments and will be comfortable coordinating with architects, engineers, airport operators, airlines, security agencies, and specialty consultants throughout all phases of project delivery.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Opportunity

As Project Manager – Wayfinding, you will be responsible for managing the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of airport wayfinding programs on complex terminal projects.

You will serve as the primary liaison between clients, technical teams, and specialty consultants, ensuring that signage, environmental graphics, digital information systems, and passenger navigation strategies are fully integrated into terminal design and construction.

This position offers the opportunity to work on some of the most significant aviation infrastructure investments in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of airport wayfinding projects from planning through construction support.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams responsible for architectural coordination, environmental graphics, signage design, and passenger information systems.
  • Coordinate wayfinding strategies with terminal architecture, passenger flow, accessibility, security, retail, and operational requirements.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with airport clients and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, planners, specialty consultants, contractors, and airport operations staff.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of design packages, construction documents, technical specifications, and design standards.
  • Ensure compliance with airport design criteria, accessibility standards (ADA), life safety requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Manage consultant performance, quality assurance, and project risk.
  • Support procurement, construction administration, field coordination, and issue resolution during implementation.
  • Present project updates and technical recommendations to clients and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture .
  • Registered Architect (RA) license preferred; candidates actively pursuing registration with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 10–15+ years of professional experience , including significant experience delivering airport wayfinding or terminal architecture projects.
  • Airport project experience is required .
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex architectural or wayfinding projects within active airport environments.
  • Strong understanding of passenger flow, terminal planning, environmental graphics, signage systems, and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience delivering projects for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) .
  • Experience with major U.S. hub airport terminal redevelopment programs.
  • Familiarity with PANYNJ Design Standards and airport design review processes.
  • Experience coordinating digital signage, passenger information systems, and integrated wayfinding technologies.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.

The successful candidate is an Architect who combines strong design and technical expertise with outstanding project management capabilities. You understand how wayfinding influences every aspect of the passenger experience and have successfully delivered projects within complex, operational airport environments.

You are comfortable working with airport authorities, airlines, specialty consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams while balancing operational constraints, design excellence, schedule, and budget.

Experience working with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and on large-scale terminal redevelopment projects will be highly valued.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $160,000 - $220,000 annually for this position and local market.
