About The Role

Role Summary

The Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing the compliance framework for the life insurance business. The role ensures that business activities, products, sales practices, and internal controls comply with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and internal policies. The Compliance Manager works closely with business, legal, risk, operations, and distribution teams to promote a strong compliance culture and manage regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls for the life insurance business.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on products, sales practices, operations, and disclosures.
  • Provide compliance advice on product design, marketing materials, customer communications, and sales processes.
  • Review policy brochures, scripts, training materials, and other customer-facing documents.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, thematic reviews, and issue tracking to identify gaps and recommend remediation.
  • Support regulatory filings, reporting, and responses to regulator inquiries or examinations.
  • Investigate compliance incidents, breaches, complaints, and potential misconduct, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness programs to employees and intermediaries.
  • Work with business stakeholders to embed compliance requirements into new initiatives, projects, and process changes.
  • Maintain records, management information, and reporting on compliance activities, issues, and key risks.
  • Support other relevant compliance obligations as required.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of compliance, legal, risk, audit, or regulatory experience in the life insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance regulatory requirements, product governance, sales conduct, and consumer protection principles.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, complaints handling, and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in compliance, risk, insurance, or related fields.
  • Experience working with regulators, external auditors, or in a regional compliance environment.
  • Knowledge of agency, broker, or digital distribution compliance.
