Centra Behavioral Health Hospital is a brand-new 72 bed behavioral health facility opening in 2026. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence-based, transformational care for a broad range of mental health concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.
How you'll contribute
A CNA who excels in this role
- Provides compassionate, patient-centered care to behavioral health patients in an inpatient setting, supporting a safe, therapeutic environment while assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Works collaboratively with nursing and clinical staff to monitor patient behavior, promote safety, support treatment goals, and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene.
- Provide one-to-one or close observation for patients requiring enhanced safety monitoring.
- Support and reinforce therapeutic interventions under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
- Document patient observations, care provided, ADL support, and safety checks in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
- Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and proper use of assistive devices while following fall prevention protocols.
- Monitor patient behavior, mood, and engagement, promptly reporting changes or concerns to the nurse on duty.
- Contribute to maintaining a calm, structured, and safe environment conducive to behavioral health treatment.
- Participate in crisis prevention and de-escalation efforts using approved techniques.
- Ensure patient rooms and common areas remain clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and other patient data as assigned.
- Support patient engagement in unit programming, group activities, and therapeutic schedules.
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including orientation of patients to the unit and collection of belongings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and regulatory standards.
- Uphold infection control, safety, and compliance protocols at all times.
- Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism when working with individuals experiencing cognitive decline, mood disorders, or behavioral challenges.

What we're looking for
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in using technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- One year of experience in direct patient care preferred. Behavioral health experience preferred.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
- De-escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
