About The Role
The Opportunity
Red River Co-op is growing, and we're looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. Based out of our Head Office in Winnipeg, MB, this role supports our expanding network of food stores and gas bars throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our facilities and supporting our continued growth. Essential responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and execute preventative maintenance programs across Red River Co-op's facilities, ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance activities are completed on schedule.
- Travel regularly between Red River Co-op locations to perform maintenance and repair work, conduct facility inspections, and provide operational support, including car wash maintenance, environmental checks, cleaning, small appliance upkeep, and other activities that ensure our facilities remain safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently.
- Support the administration of Red RIver Co-op's maintenance and repair ticketing system by assigning service requests, tracking work orders, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining accurate records of completed work.
- Maintain Red River Co-op properties according to seasonal requirements, including lawn care, hedge trimming, signage maintenance, snow and ice removal, waste management, and other groundskeeping duties.
- Travel between Red RIver Co-op locations to deliver maintenance supplies, parts, tools, equipment, and documentation, ensuring sites are equipped to support ongoing operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, uphold company policies and Workplace Health & Safety standards, promote a safety-first culture, complete required training, contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our facilities, and perform other duties as assigned.
About You
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance, facilities, construction, or related trade experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Mechanically inclined with a strong ability to troubleshoot, repair, and solve problems.
- Highly motivated, organized, and able to prioritize work, manage projects, and identify maintenance needs proactively.
- A self-starter who works independently with minimal supervision while delivering quality results.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across the organization.
- Committed to maintaining safe, efficient, and well-presented facilities while promoting a safety-first culture.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing the demands of a hands-on maintenance role.
- Construction certification, designation, or related training is considered an asset.
- Experience with minor renovations, building maintenance, and construction repairs is considered an asset.
