Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two Examinations Assistants to join the Course Admin and Timetabling team on a 5-week fixed-term, full-time contract starting on 12 October 2026.
The Examinations Assistant will support the Course Administration and Timetabling team in the effective running of the University’s examination periods, including the preparation for examinations and reconciliation of scripts.
Key responsibilities
- Check examination papers for format and assist with printing and quality control of examination papers.
- Prepare examination packs and coordinate the distribution of examination papers to invigilators.
- Support special examination facility arrangements.
- Sort examination scripts and accurately check candidates’ attendance.
- Other duties as directed by the Examinations Coordinator.

You will be a motivated, confident individual who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. The ability to safely handle examination papers and related documents and strictly follow policy is essential. You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with students and staff, an ability to stay calm under stressful conditions, strong attention to details and time-management skills.
You will display highly competent administration skills and an ability to work methodically and keep on-task till the work is completed. Knowledge of working in a tertiary education environment would be an advantage.
