Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Writer to create Pilot Plant equipment training documentation and work instructions that safely and effectively educate operators on Pilot Plant equipment. This position will be Full-Time and On-Site in Hershey, PA.

What You’ll Do

  • Create training materials, including process procedures, step-up cards, one-point lessons, and other documentation in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety
  • Capture video and photographic documentation to support the development of a comprehensive learning program within the LMS platform and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Assist with the creation and review of Job Safety Analysis documentation, as needed
  • Standardize content structure, instructional format, and operator competency requirements
  • Provide periodic follow-up evaluations of machine operators to confirm skill retention and support refresher training for higher-complexity equipment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned to support Tech Center training and operational needs
  • Work with SMEs to simplify complex content, remove unnecessary detail, and focus on what the learner needs to know
  • Prioritize content creation work to meet training development milestones
  • Observe and document SME operational procedures to verify accuracy, identify procedural gaps, and create training content development

What You'll Need

Required

  • Technical writing and procedure development experience
  • Manufacturing equipment/process documentation expertise
  • Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting awareness
  • Three consecutive years of food manufacturing experience at the same facility (not broken into multiple companies and roles)
  • Training content creation experience
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft programs: Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint
  • Moderate experience in Snagit, Copilot, and Adobe content creation
  • Ability to operate an iPad

Preferred

  • Technical, mechanical, or operational skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$40-$43 per hour The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
