At Valley Health, every interaction counts. As a Communications Technician, you will play a vital role in helping patients, families, physicians, and staff access the information and support they need.
The Communications Technician accurately handles answer/ transfer calls for the general public, communicates directions to different facilities for general public, pages physicians/ VHS personnel as needed, enters schedules and updates for Web on call for physician practices and departments. The Communications Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment and communicating in support of Valley Health values.
Shift Schedule : 3 –12 hour shifts (36 hours) per week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) per month.
What You Will Do
Provide Exceptional Customer Service
In this role, you will serve as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for callers, answering and routing calls accurately and efficiently. You will assist callers by providing information and directions to Valley Health facilities and services while delivering a positive customer experience during every interaction.
Support Healthcare Operations
You will also support healthcare operations by paging physicians and Valley Health personnel as needed, entering and maintaining physician and department on-call schedules, and helping ensure critical communications are delivered accurately and promptly. This position supports communication needs across multiple departments and service lines.
Manage Multiple Priorities
This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, including handling a high volume of calls while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. You will navigate multiple systems and applications simultaneously, use sound judgment when prioritizing requests and responding to urgent needs, and remain calm and effective when managing competing demands.
Education
High school diploma or equivalency required
Experience
Former hospital department/call center operator or physician office experience preferred
Qualifications
- Customer service oriented and excellent communication skills required - Proficiency in computer and typing skills (40-50 wpm) required - Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook required - Ability to respond to multiple demands and use analytical
