About the position

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused and experienced Yard Tractor Operator to join our Morning Shift team at our Gillman Depot.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers throughout our transport yard. The position will involve operating a tug to safely manoeuvre and pull a range of trailer combinations, including B-doubles and triples, as well as operating a forklift to load and unload trucks and trailers.

The successful candidate will have experience operating heavy vehicles and forklifts in a fast-paced transport or logistics environment and be confident working safely around heavy vehicles, trailers and other equipment.

This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 6:00am to 2:00pm.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • MC License – Required
  • Forklift License – Required
  • Previous experience operating a forklift to load and unload trucks and trailers, preferably within a transport or logistics environment.
  • Experience operating yard tractors or similar heavy vehicles.
  • Experience safely maneuvering and pulling B-doubles, triples or other trailer combinations.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Good literacy and comprehension skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
