About the Role
What You'll Do
In this role, you should be a keen problem solver with strong attention to detail and a good level of written and spoken English. The role primarily involves planning and carrying out customer migrations, ensuring websites, databases, DNS, and email services are moved safely and efficiently while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
You should be comfortable assessing different source environments and hosting configurations, troubleshooting migration issues, and validating that everything is working correctly after the move. Experience with website and database migrations, DNS, email services, and hosting environments is important, along with the ability to document processes, edge cases, and lessons learned to help improve migration workflows over time.
What You'll Do
- Strong understanding of end-to-end hosting migrations, including DNS propagation, database collation, email routing, cutovers, and migration risks
- Hands-on experience with cPanel/WHM and Linux servers via SSH
- Comfortable using Linux command-line tools, checking error logs, managing file permissions, and troubleshooting common server issues
- Experience working with databases, including running queries, validating database connections, and troubleshooting migration-related issues
- Ability to properly scope and plan migrations based on the source environment, target hosting configuration, potential risks, and downtime requirements
- Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to explain migration timelines, risks, issues, and expectations clearly without unnecessary technical jargon
- Experience performing post-migration validation, including website testing, DNS resolution, email delivery, and database connectivity
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before, during, and after a migration
- Ability to document migration procedures, edge cases, workarounds, and lessons learned to continuously improve team processes and migration playbooks
What You'll Bring
- At least 2 years of relevant experience, ideally within web hosting, technical support, or website migrations
- Good written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
- Previous web hosting experience and a good understanding of website files, PHP, MySQL, and how websites connect to databases
- Hands-on experience with FTP and SSH, including transferring and managing website files between servers
- Understanding of email protocols and experience supporting or performing email migrations
- Good knowledge of DNS, nameservers, and common DNS-related issues during migrations
- Familiarity with Linux environments and the ability to continue building deeper Linux and database troubleshooting skills
- Ability to identify potential migration risks and blockers before they become live issues
- Strong work attitude, reliability, and attention to detail, with attendance and dependability being key expectations
- Open and proactive communication, particularly when encountering issues, delays, or risks
- Willingness to learn from and support other Migration Specialists while building toward more complex and high-risk migrations
- Amenable to working a shifting schedule, including weekends, with the possibility of supporting U.S. business hours
