About The Role

Job Summary: The IT Project Manager III manages all aspects of assigned technology projects to ensure successful delivery on time and within approved budgets. This role has overall responsibility for managing project scope, schedule, project resource hour costs, internal staffing coordination, vendors, and contractual deliverables for moderately complex initiatives.

The IT Project Manager III develops and maintains detailed project plans, monitors milestones, generates specific and targeted status reports, evaluates and manages project risks, and incorporates defined quality standards into all project deliverables. This role possesses strong knowledge of technology and project management practices and works independently while collaborating closely with business and technical stakeholders.

Work is highly independent and collaborative in nature, with responsibility for leading and delivering more complex technology projects and initiatives. May lead projects independently or contribute as a delivery lead on larger, enterprise initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Independently manage all phases of technology projects including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closure
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and task-level activities
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved scope and budgets related to project resource hours
  • Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies, taking proactive action to address issues
  • Operate within established IAS governance, standards, and project management frameworks
  • Lead delivery of complex technology projects, proactively managing interdependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations
  • Scope, Schedule & Cost Management
  • Define, manage, and control project scope to ensure alignment with approved objectives and business requirements
  • Manage project schedules and priorities across multiple workstreams
  • Track, analyze, and manage project costs related to internal and external project resource hours
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and address scope, schedule, or cost risks and variances

Resource, Staffing & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate IAS project staffing needs with department managers to ensure appropriate resourcing
  • Lead day-to-day coordination of internal project team members
  • Manage vendor relationships, deliverables, and performance in alignment with contractual agreements
  • Ensure vendor activities are integrated effectively into overall project plans
  • Risk, Quality & Reporting
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks, issues, and mitigation strategies
  • Incorporate and enforce appropriate quality measures and standards across project deliverables
  • Generate specific, targeted project status reports for stakeholders and leadership
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained according to IAS standards

Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a key point of contact for business, technical, and leadership stakeholders
  • Facilitate effective collaboration across cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Lead project meetings, status reviews, and issue resolution discussions
  • Clearly communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes

Primary Skills & Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 6+ years of related IT or project management experience
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) desired
  • ITIL or ITSM certifications preferred
  • Prior experience managing moderately complex technology projects
  • Insurance and/or healthcare industry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of information technology concepts, systems, and development lifecycles
  • Advanced understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Ability to independently manage moderately complex technology projects
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and documentation communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence without direct authority
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Experience with project management and tracking tools (e.g., JIRA or similar) preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt and respond to different types of people and tasks
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to be punctual and dependable
  • Willingness to present to groups and run meetings when necessary
