AI Engineer

STV is seeking an AI Engineer to join our Digital Advisory team at our New York City, NY or Boston, MA offices. This is a hands-on, client-facing role focused on building and deploying AI agents, automations, and intelligent workflows using the Microsoft technology stack. You'll work directly alongside experienced engineers, solution architects, and client stakeholders to transform business challenges into practical AI solutions that deliver immediate value.

This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is passionate about emerging AI technologies, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to gain real-world experience delivering production systems for enterprise clients. You will be embedded within project teams, frequently collaborating onsite with clients, and will have the opportunity to rapidly develop both your technical and consulting skills.

Position Summary

As an AI Engineer I, you will contribute to the design, configuration, development, testing, and deployment of AI-powered solutions built on Microsoft's AI and data ecosystem. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and solution architects, you will help deliver AI agents, copilots, workflow automations, and data-driven applications that support clients across the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.

You will work directly with clients to understand business requirements, demonstrate solutions, troubleshoot issues, and translate technical concepts into clear, actionable outcomes. Success in this role requires technical curiosity, strong communication skills, professionalism in client settings, and a desire to continuously learn emerging AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

AI Solution Development

• Build, configure, test, and support AI agents, copilots, and intelligent workflows using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform, and Power Automate.
• Assist in the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions that solve operational, business, and project delivery challenges.
• Participate in solution design sessions and contribute ideas for improving performance, usability, and scalability.
• Support the integration of AI capabilities into existing client platforms and business processes.
• Develop and maintain prompts, knowledge sources, workflows, and agent configurations following established standards and best practices.

Client Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement

• Participate in client-facing workshops, discovery sessions, and solution demonstrations.
• Gather business and technical requirements directly from stakeholders and document findings.
• Explain AI concepts, technical solutions, and implementation approaches in language accessible to non-technical audiences.
• Troubleshoot issues during demonstrations, testing, and production deployments while maintaining professionalism and composure.
• Support onsite client engagements as required throughout the project lifecycle.

Data & Platform Engineering

• Develop and maintain data flows across Microsoft platforms including Dataverse, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
• Assist with data preparation, transformation, integration, and governance activities supporting AI solutions.
• Support secure and scalable data architectures that enable effective AI and automation capabilities.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and architects to ensure successful solution delivery.

Engineering Excellence

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and configurations.
• Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and quality assurance processes.
• Follow established development standards, naming conventions, security practices, and documentation requirements.
• Contribute to technical documentation, deployment guides, runbooks, user guides, and knowledge-sharing materials.
• Help execute user acceptance testing (UAT), collect feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Professional Growth & Project Ownership

• Take ownership of small features, enhancements, or workstreams from design through deployment.
• Learn to estimate effort, manage tasks, and deliver work reliably against project timelines.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies, Microsoft platform capabilities, and industry best practices.
• Continuously expand technical and consulting skills through mentorship, training, and real-world project experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• 0–2 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, AI, machine learning, or related disciplines.
• Internship, co-op, academic project, or personal project experience demonstrating software development or AI solution delivery.
• Working proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python and/orTypeScript/JavaScript.
• Ability to read, understand, debug, and modify existing codebases.
• Foundational understanding of large language models (LLMs), AI agents, prompt engineering, retrieval concepts, or agent orchestration principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable interacting directly with clients and stakeholders in professional settings.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt in fast-paced environments.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
• Willingness and ability to travel and work onsite at client locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform, or Power Automate.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, Microsoft Fabric, or cloud-based data platforms.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, integrations, and modern software development practices.
• Experience working with SQL, data modeling, or data integration concepts.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool/function calling, or agent workflows.
• Exposure to Git, source control practices, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps concepts.
• Experience working in consulting, project-based environments, or client-facing roles.
• Interest in infrastructure, transportation, architecture, engineering, construction, or digital transformation initiatives.

Compensation Range

$95,975.90 - $109,686.74
