About The Role

Purpose

To design, develop, and optimize complex backend systems and services, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and reliability while contributing to technical standards and engineering improvements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs in Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
Own delivery of complex features end to end, from technical design through production.
Design and optimize database interactions, integrations, and inter-service communication.
Build and operate event-driven flows using Kafka and enterprise messaging.
Ensure solutions meet security, performance, availability, and maintainability requirements.
Apply secure coding practices for authentication, authorization, encryption, and sensitive data handling.
Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards across the squad.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement durable fixes.
Contribute to technical design decisions and application architecture.
Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, and observability on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
Identify technical debt and drive improvements to design and code quality.
Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the chapter.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
4 years of backend engineering experience.
Strong Java, Spring Boot, REST API design, SQL, and Git.
Hands-on experience with containers, CI/CD, and distributed systems (Good to have)
Payments or regulated financial services experience preferred (Good to have)
