About The Role

As Shell advances its Autonomous Finance and digital transformation journey, efficient, secure, and scalable automation solutions are critical to improving productivity, control, and business value. Senior DTA Software Engineers play an important role in designing and delivering enterprise-grade automations that bridge process gaps, strengthen user experience, and support Finance Operations across a global landscape. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to turn complex requirements into robust technical solutions. You will also help raise engineering quality through strong design, reusable components, technical guidance, and continuous improvement.

Key challenges include

  • Leading solution design discussions with stakeholders and converting complex business needs into scalable automation approaches.
  • Designing, developing, and enhancing reliable automation solutions using approved DTA technologies, standards, and controls.
  • Driving technical quality through code reviews, reusable design patterns, documentation, and engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshooting complex issues, improving solution resilience, and supporting stable operations through hypercare and production support.
  • Collaborating across geographies with developers, architects, and business teams in a virtual and fast-paced environment.
  • Identifying opportunities to modernize existing automations with AI, workflow, data, and platform capabilities to improve value realization.

What is the Role?

As a Senior DTA Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of automation solutions that improve efficiency, control, and user experience across Finance Operations. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to shape solution approaches, resolve technical challenges, and ensure high-quality delivery using approved DTA technologies and agile ways of working.

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of automation and digital solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into robust technical designs, reusable components, and scalable implementation plans.
  • Drive engineering best practices across the SDLC, including design reviews, coding standards, testing strategy, documentation, and release readiness.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and production support, including root cause analysis, defect resolution, and hypercare stabilization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support peer developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with stakeholders to prioritize opportunities, communicate progress, manage technical risks, and deliver measurable business value.

  • Solution ownership: lead end-to-end delivery of automation solutions from design through production support.
  • Technical leadership: influence design decisions, enforce engineering standards, and improve code quality and maintainability.

What We Need from You?

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with strong hands-on expertise in automation and digital solutions, ideally in finance or operations. You should be confident in solving complex technical problems, shaping solution design, mentoring others, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable outcomes.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Typically 6+ years of experience in software engineering, automation, or digital solution development, with strong delivery ownership.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience with root cause analysis, solution optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence solution direction and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Hands-on expertise in multiple relevant technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate, RPA, SQL, SharePoint Online, GenAI tools, reporting solutions, or similar enterprise automation platforms.
  • Proven experience across the full SDLC, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, support, and change implementation.
  • Relevant technical certifications and experience in mentoring, code reviews, or solution governance are an advantage.
