Description of Work

This position is responsible for administering the statutory insurance plans as authorized by the General Assembly of North Carolina. The Insurance Analyst works with management to provide education and knowledge of insurance plans available to employees, promote awareness and understanding of each plan, ensures maximum value is gained from these insurance plans and provides counseling to over 9,000 employees. The Insurance Analyst will serve as 1st point of contact for all insurance questions about employees/vendors/FIORI/SHP/NC Flex. Also, works with other functional areas to provide support and assistance as needed. Position will interface with external insurance vendors regarding questions, payments and updates. Position oversees the annual SHP, NC Flex, and agency specific insurance annual enrollments for the entire agency. This position works closely with BEACON and Benefits Reporting to ensure all employees, on a leave basis, are notified and advised of their options. Additionally, this position will work on daily, monthly and annual reports as required by the agency or the OSHR.

This position will also work with the Short-Term Disability Analyst in functions that overlap with benefits and provide guidance in conjunction with (or absence of) STD Analyst.

Applicants that possess the following are encouraged to apply

  • •Previous experience processing actions in the State of NC HRIS (known as the Integrated HR/Payroll System, BEACON, or FIORI)
  • •Previous experience with Benefit focus/ebenefits

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC 18 $63,927 - $111,871
  • Management prefers applicants with the following
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit programs (i.e., health insurance programs, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, leaves of absence, disability, and/or retirement)
  • Experience maintaining and monitoring information in a Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Experience communicating effectively with internal and external customers and partners
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office products

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 4 years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
