IMPORT & EXPORT MANAGER

Position Purpose

Provide strategic leadership for all Import & Export activities, ensuring full compliance with customs and foreign trade regulations while supporting business growth, operational continuity, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.

Position Information

  • Reports To: Plant Manager
  • Direct Reports: 2-7 Employees
  • Level: Management

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute Import & Export strategy.
  • Advise leadership on foreign trade matters.
  • Lead risk mitigation and business continuity initiatives.
  • Support launches, expansions, and supply chain transformations.

Trade Compliance & Governance

  • Own IMMEX, PROSEC, Annex 24, Annex 30, USMCA/T-MEC, OEA and CTPAT compliance.
  • Lead compliance reviews and trade risk assessments.
  • Approve customs classification, valuation, and origin determinations.

Operations Management

  • Ensure continuity of international material flow.
  • Manage brokers, carriers, and freight forwarders.
  • Resolve critical logistics and customs escalations.

Audits & Government Relations

  • Lead internal, external and government audits.
  • Represent the company before SAT, ANAM and authorities.
  • Ensure closure of audit findings.

Financial & Business Management

  • Drive cost reduction and duty savings initiatives.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and KPI governance.

People Leadership

  • Build high-performing teams.
  • Conduct talent reviews and succession planning.
  • Develop training and engagement programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8-12 years of progressive Import & Export experience.
  • 3-5 years leading teams.
  • Manufacturing and IMMEX experience.
  • Audit leadership experience.

Technical Knowledge

  • Customs Law, IMMEX, PROSEC, Annex 24, Annex 30, USMCA/T-MEC, Rules of Origin, Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Incoterms 2020, SAP, Power BI.

KPIs

  • 100% Customs Compliance; Zero penalties; >99.8% documentation accuracy; >99% inventory accuracy; >95% logistics provider performance, 100% audit findings closed on time, >95% logistics provider service level.

Communication Skills

  • Advanced professional English required, including strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with senior leadership, global teams, customs authorities, customers, and external business partners.
