As Lead AI and Computer Vision Specialist , your role involves contributing to the Computer Vision developments within the AI Robotics team.You will design, implement, and optimize AI and machine learning algorithms, develop and deploy advanced computer vision systems for smart inspection and knowledge management, and integrate them into solutions for energy systems, including physical AI and robotics. The role requires also creating and implementing advanced sensors, developing software components, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy physical AI and robotics solutions at customer sites, which may involve international travel.
As Lead AI and Computer Vision Specialist, you will be responsible for
- Contributing to the AI and Computer Vision developments of the AI Robotics Team
- Designing, implementing, and optimizing AI and machine learning algorithms
- Developing and deploying computer vision systems for robotic inspection, defect detection, knowledge management, quality control, and other critical applications.
- Integrating solutions into existing and new energy systems to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Creating and implementing advanced sensors to gather data for AI and robotics applications.
- Developing and testing software components according to customer and technical requirements.
- Collaborating to deploy AI and robotics solutions at customer sites.
- Exploring and developing new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead in the energy transformation industry.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including AI and Robotics scientists, engineers, and domain experts, to solve complex problems.
- Contributing to the initiation and execution of R&D projects with internal and external partners, academia and SMEs.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will have
- M.Sc. degree in Computer Science with AI focus. Ph.D. on a relevant topic is considered a plus.
- 4+ years of work experience in AI, computer vision, generative models, perception. Experience with their application into hardware and/or robotics will be considered a plus.
- Experience in project execution, proactively initiating and leading collaborations with academia for the Research, Development & Innovation is a must have (e.g. within the Horizon Europe framework and similar).
- Experience in working with state-of-the-art deep learning models and pipelines.
- Experience in handling data from different types of sensors. Experience with remote sensing data, sensors integration on robotic platforms, including quadruped robots will be considered a plus.
- Availability to live in Florence or nearby, with the aim of travelling for AI and robotics solutions deployment and testing.
- Knowledge of software development with Python and DevOps Process such as MLOps, CI/CD, GitHub and demonstrate experience in containerization.
- Outstanding communication skills, with fluency both in English and Italian to present development results at international scientific conferences and industrial events.
- EU work permit.

For Italy: The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 43,600 To 70,000.
"The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay".
