Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.
The work model for the role is: Onsite
This role is contributing to the Marine & Ports Business of ABB, based in Singapore and supporting the service team across different markets/regions.
You will be mainly accountable for
- Performing mechanical service, maintenance, inspection, repair and overhaul work on Propulsion Service units in accordance with service instructions and the agreed scope of work.
- Carrying out installation, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting activities at customer sites, shipyards, dry docks and onboard vessels.
- Identifying technical issues, supporting root cause analysis and recommending corrective and preventive actions for mechanical service cases.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in line with ABB’s safety requirements, quality standards, work instructions and applicable site-specific rules.
- Preparing clear service reports, technical findings and documentation after completing assignments.
- Maintaining professional customer communication and providing practical technical guidance during service assignments.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned, field feedback and development ideas related to service methods, tools and product reliability
Qualifications for the role
- Degree, diploma, or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Maintenance Technology, or a related technical field.
- Relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, installation, commissioning, overhaul, or repair of industrial or marine equipment.
- Experience working in marine, shipyard, offshore, power generation, or other heavy industrial environments is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, procedures, and engineering documentation accurately.
- Strong safety awareness, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the flexibility to work in demanding operational environments.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and customer relationship skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures.
- Proficient in spoken and written English; additional language capabilities are an asset.
