About the Role

This position will review financial aid applications and awards assistance in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies. Responsible for determining student eligibility using both Federal and Institutional Methodologies, performing verifications, evaluating appeals, and maintaining accurate financial aid records. Counsels’ students and families on all aspects of the financial aid lifecycle and manages one or more specialized programs.

Key Responsibilities

Performs need analysis using both Institutional and Federal Methodologies for incoming and returning students. Awards institutional and federal grants, loans, scholarships, and work study in alignment with university packaging policies and federal regulations. Conducts file verification for matriculated and returning students by analyzing tax returns and all other required documentation.

Provides comprehensive counseling to students and families regarding financial aid awards, alternative financing options, special circumstances, and loan repayment, deferment and consolidation. Prepares and presents student appeals to the Appeals Committee, modifying aid packages to reflect committee determinations. Provides leadership to Assistant Directors and serves as a point of contact in the absence of Senior Associate Directors and Director of Financial Aid.

One or more of the following program responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to: FAFSA Processing, Federal Pell Grant Processing, Direct Loan Processing, MA/VT/PA State Scholarship Processing, restricted and unrestricted endowed scholarship assignments, Study Abroad, Summer Aid, Graduate Aid Liaison, Compliance Assistant, CA Stipends, Tuition Remissions, Tuition Exchange

Other Duties as Required

Education

  • B.A./B.S./equivalent required.

Experience

  • 3-5 years required; 5+ years preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Direct experience in the delivery and administration of student financial aid preferred.
  • Experience using PowerFaids preferred.
