Job Summary
Provides general legal counsel on contracts, regulatory matters, collections and other transactional related matters. This is an entry-level to early-career attorney role with a strong emphasis on legal research, working closely with and under the direct supervision of the Associate General Counsel to help the company stay current on applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Essential Duties
Under the direct supervision and mentorship of the Associate General Counsel, engage in the following
- Review, negotiate, and provide feedback on vendor contracts for various entities managed by PACS Group
- Assist with legal suits and pre-litigation risk mitigation efforts by conducting extensive legal research and providing support to the Associate General Counsel, helping to reduce overall costs by handling legal matters internally,
- Provide legal support for new acquisitions and post-closing items, including but not limited to legal diligence; document formation and revision; coordination with attorneys of sellers, landlords and lenders
- Coordinate with external counsel on current legal and compliance matters to ensure continual communication and transparency.
- Assist the external counsel with research and support in developing effective strategy to defend materialized matters and mitigate potential for further loss.
- Review complaints and/or summonses & subpoenas and forward to appropriate personnel for reporting to insurance carrier, escalating matters not covered by insurance to the Associate General Counsel for engagement of outside counsel,
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly follow ups with outside counsel on case matters; maintaining legal case documents in the matter management and cloud legal case roster.
- Compliance and other high value project assistance,
- Conduct significant and ongoing legal research on relevant laws, statutes, and healthcare regulations, and monitor relevant case law and industry developments, to help ensure the company remains up to date on applicable laws and compliance requirements; this research function is a core and regular part of this role.
Qualifications
- Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Must be licensed, admitted to the bar in at least 1 US state and in good standing.
- 0-2 years of legal experience; recent law school graduates, judicial clerks, and licensed attorneys early in their careers are encouraged to apply. Strong legal research experience and excellent legal research and writing skills are required, as this role involves substantial legal research to help the company stay current on relevant laws and compliance matters.
- Contract/Transactional Law or Healthcare Industry experience a plus.
- Licensed in UT or CA a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products.
- Maintain required CLE credits.
