Position Summary

The Financial Analyst serves as a key business partner to the Controller and operations leadership team, providing financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and decision-support services for the assigned complex (Strategic Business Unit). This role supports the financial performance of multiple facilities by delivering timely and accurate analysis, identifying operational improvement opportunities, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, capital investment, and profitability initiatives.

The Financial Analyst plays an important role in helping the business achieve its financial and operational objectives by transforming financial data into actionable insights, promoting financial stewardship, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the complex. The position works closely with operations, supply chain, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive performance, improve processes, and support sound business decision-making.

The Job You Will Perform

  • Provide accounting and analytical support and play an integral role in the success of the Company. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated employee who will analyze performance and recommend action needed to maximize the financial return for the facility.
  • Work under the direction of the Controller in the preparation for and analysis of operational results, operating trends, customer profitability, cost reduction initiatives, capital projects, incentive plan calculations, budgeting & forecasting, special projects, and initiatives in order to assist management in achieving operations and management objectives.
  • Partner with plant, operations, and functional leadership teams to identify, evaluate, and monitor cost savings opportunities, productivity improvements, and operational efficiencies that support financial performance objectives.
  • Support EBITDA reporting requirements, financial performance reviews, bridge analysis, and related reporting activities utilized to monitor business performance and results.
  • Support regional finance reviews, build-back discussions, and other periodic financial analysis requirements as requested.
  • Work with Controller in development and refinement of processes to improve accounting efficiencies, reporting capabilities, data quality, process documentation, and overall financial workflow effectiveness.
  • Actively assist Controller in maintaining and enhancing internal controls, accounting policy, and procedures.
  • Evaluate existing controls and processes and provide recommendations to strengthen internal controls, improve compliance, and enhance financial stewardship.
  • Provide financial analysis including interpretation and application of professional standards, company policies, and processes.
  • Prepare journal vouchers and participate in month-end close activities.
  • Perform daily financial activities of the plant and support multiple facilities within the complex as required.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities and reports.
  • Perform data entry and utilize systems as a source of research and analysis.
  • Complete various reporting requirements and provide analysis supporting business decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting tools, automate manual financial processes, and enhance the availability, quality, and usability of financial information.
  • Be familiar with the financial policies and procedures outlined in the financial policies and capital investment manuals as they relate to the plants.
  • Ensure that applicable internal controls are followed in each area of responsibility.
  • Investigate, review, and evaluate various financial transactions and provide recommendations regarding the appropriate financial and accounting treatment.
  • Support capital spending forecasts, project evaluations, project-in-service activities, lease reviews, and asset disposal processes.
  • Participate in capital results reviews and post-completion analyses to evaluate project performance, expected returns, and business outcomes.
  • Review production hours entered/approved into payroll system; balance hours and maintain accuracy.
  • Assist other facilities within the complex (SBU) as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; CPA or CMA a plus.
  • 3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience; manufacturing experience highly desirable.
  • Corrugated, printing, packaging and/or related finance experience in a manufacturing environment highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles, internal financial management, and industry business practices.
  • Demonstrated skills to influence peers and management.
  • Demonstrated effective communication with business leaders at various levels and functions.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
