Junior Paralegal (Contractor)

Position Overview

Cadence is seeking a contractor Junior Paralegal to primarily support the Lead Paralegal in the Yokohama office and the Legal Department in the Japan region, with essential administrative and legal support functions. This is a temporary position ideal for candidates seeking hands-on experience in a corporate legal environment. The role involves a variety of tasks, including filing, billing support, and reviewing internal requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Filing Work
  • Organize, maintain, and update legal files and records in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Assist with document management, including indexing, scanning, and archiving legal documents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation.
  • Billing Work
  • Support the processing and tracking of legal invoices from outside counsel and vendors.
  • Assist with billing data entry, reconciliation, and reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate with various departments, including Finance and Accounts Payable, on invoice approvals and payment status.
  • Reviewing Requests

Conduct an initial review of incoming Anti-Corruption approval requests submitted to the Legal Department for completeness and accuracy, as the Legal Admin role. Track requests through completion.

Follow up on pending requests and ensure timely responses.

  • General Support
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in an international law firm, or in a legal role, ideally with experience at a multinational technology company.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent English/Japanese written skills.
  • Fluent English verbal communication skills preferable.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
