Within the School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), the marketing and communications function supports the promotion of academic programs, events, and the achievements of faculty, students, and alumni. Through storytelling, communications, outreach efforts, and more this role helps enhance SVAD's visibility and reputation while engaging prospective students, alumni, and college, university and community partners.

The Opportunity

The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) is hiring a Marketing Communications Specialist I to join our team. This position plays an important role in promoting the school's academic programs, events, and achievements through marketing, communications, outreach, and engagement initiatives.

This role is ideal for a creative and collaborative professional who enjoys storytelling, content development, and connecting audiences with meaningful experiences. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, students, and university partners to develop promotional campaigns, support recruitment efforts, coordinate event communications, and showcase the accomplishments of the SVAD community. The position offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on the school's reputation, public engagement, and student recruitment efforts through a variety of digital, print, and in-person communication strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate marketing and communications content across print, digital, social media, email, web, and public relations channels.
  • Promote academic programs, exhibitions, events, and the achievements of faculty, students, and alumni through storytelling and outreach.
  • Support student recruitment initiatives by creating promotional campaigns, participating in outreach activities, and maintaining program marketing materials.
  • Coordinate communications and marketing efforts for exhibitions, lectures, performances, conferences, and other public-facing events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with university, alumni, community, and industry partners to increase awareness and engagement with the School of Visual Arts and Design.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university partners to develop and implement marketing initiatives that advance the school's visibility and reputation.
  • Maintain marketing calendars, communication schedules, mailing lists, and related records while supporting designated marketing projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of relevant cumulative marketing, communications, public relations, or related experience (including internships).
  • Experience developing content that supports recruitment, community engagement, or audience growth initiatives.
  • Experience managing social media channels for a brand or organization.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing content for websites, social media, email marketing, print publications, or news stories.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly Express, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Experience creating visual content, including graphics, photography, video, or other multimedia assets.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and updating website content.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing simultaneous projects in a deadline-driven environment.
