About The Role
Security Engineering
- Lead technical delivery and lifecycle management for physical security applications, servers, middleware, databases, and related infrastructure.
- Review and approve solution architecture, technical designs, system configurations, and implementation approaches.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise IT, cybersecurity, risk, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with Vanguard’s enterprise security strategy and architecture standards.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, reference architectures, configuration baselines, and technical documentation.
Implementation, Integration & Automation
- Lead the deployment, configuration, upgrade, and integration of physical security technologies across global locations.
- Provide technical oversight for access control, video management, intrusion detection, visitor management, and connected security devices.
- Design, develop, and support APIs, interfaces, and automated workflows between physical security platforms and enterprise systems, including identity and HR services, network services, databases, and service management tools.
- Coordinate implementation activities with internal technology teams, Global Security stakeholders, and authorized third-party partners.
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud-enabled, API-driven, and automated security technology solutions that improve scalability, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
- Validate solutions through structured testing, technical acceptance, and production-readiness reviews.
Operational Reliability & Support
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for global physical security applications, integrations, and supporting services.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across application, database, operating system, middleware, and network layers.
- Lead root cause analysis and drive sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Engineer for availability, resilience, recoverability, performance, and supportability.
- Support incident, problem, change, release, and configuration management processes.
- Maintain accurate system inventories, support procedures, architecture artifacts, and operational documentation.
Modernization & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor developments in physical security, cloud, automation, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve quality, reliability, security, efficiency, and user experience.
- Lead or contribute to platform modernization, lifecycle remediation, and technology migration initiatives.
- Participate in system testing, validation, control assessments, and lifecycle inspections.
- Develop reusable engineering practices, mentor engineers, and promote technical excellence through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Global Security, application, infrastructure, network, database, cloud, cybersecurity, identity, and service management teams.
- Provide technical direction during project planning, design reviews, upgrades, migrations, and operational transitions.
- Translate complex technical topics into clear impacts, risks, options, and recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage technical dependencies and coordinate delivery with product vendors, service providers, and authorized security integrators.
- Contribute to special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of eight years of related experience, including at least three years supporting system integrations, automation, software development, or scripting solutions.
- Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with enterprise physical security platforms such as Genetec Security Center, Software House C•CURE, enterprise video management systems, Envoy Visitor Management, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated experience engineering and supporting enterprise applications in complex, highly available environments.
- Working knowledge of application architecture, APIs, databases, operating systems, networks, authentication, and cybersecurity controls.
- Experience leading technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and lifecycle or modernization initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Graduate degree.
- Relevant technical, cloud, cybersecurity, networking, or physical security certifications.
- Experience integrating physical security systems with identity, HR, IT service management, asset management, or monitoring platforms.
- Experience working with global teams, vendors, and systems integrators in a regulated enterprise environment.
