About The Role

Do you know how to turn a campus moment into a scroll-stopping post? Champlain College is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to bring our brand to life.

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for creating engaging, visually compelling content in support of Champlain College's comprehensive social media strategy. With a strong emphasis on high-quality photography and video storytelling, this content will enhance brand awareness, drive engagement, and achieve strategic communication and enrollment goals. This role is also responsible for monitoring the College's social channels and optimizing social media platforms.

The Social Media Coordinator plays an integral role in Champlain College's social media presence and in creating content that resonates, attracts, informs, and engages prospective students, families, and other key audiences. This position demands creativity in leveraging social media tools to achieve measurable results while collaborating closely with college functional areas and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Create engaging, high-quality social media content, including captions, images, video, and graphics, tailored to each platform
  • Produce high-quality, short-form video for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
  • Capture high-quality photography in support of storytelling efforts, at campus events, and of student life on campus and in Burlington

Campaign Execution

  • Work collaboratively with the social media team to execute comprehensive social media strategies that align with enrollment goals and institutional objectives
  • Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Storytelling & PR and in collaboration with the Social Media and Community Specialist, plan, execute, and manage social media campaigns to drive engagement, brand awareness, and enrollment conversions
  • Collaborate with marketing, public relations, and creative teams to ensure campaigns integrate with overall marketing efforts

Community Engagement & Reputation Management

  • Help manage and grow the College's social media communities by engaging with followers, responding to comments and messages, and fostering positive interactions
  • Support admissions-focused social accounts for incoming students, including Discord and Instagram
  • Collaborate with student social media content creators to amplify authentic campus experiences
  • Monitor online conversations and brand mentions to gauge public sentiment and proactively address emerging concerns

Performance Analysis & Innovation

  • Contribute to regular performance report conversations with insights and recommendations for optimization
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on social media best practices and platform updates
  • Experiment with new social media tools, formats, and platforms to stay ahead of industry trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in marketing and communications, including internship experience
  • Hands-on management and content creation experience across key social channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube)
  • Strong video production and editing skills, with proficiency in tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut, and a solid photography foundation, including DSLR cameras, gimbals, lighting, and audio gear
  • Proficiency with graphic design for social media using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and visual storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone across platforms
  • Experience with social media management/scheduling platforms, SEO best practices, and analytics tools is a plus

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid work environment, with flexibility required for campus events and content creation
  • Occasional evening or weekend work for live events, campaign launches, and social media monitoring
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple concurrent campaigns
  • Travel to campus events and content creation opportunities as needed

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $50,000 - $54,300
