About the Job

The Project Management Co-op Student will report to the Manager of Capital Projects and be part of the Energy & Technical Services team based in Niagara Falls. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of capital and operational projects across Ontario and other locations throughout Canada.

Working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, operations teams, Health & Safety, Environmental Performance, Sales, Marketing, and external contractors, the student will assist with projects involving hea\vy civil, mechanical, chemical process infrastructure, commercial buildings, wastewater treatment systems, and other facilities that support Walker's growing operations.

This role is ideal for a motivated student looking to develop project management, engineering, construction, and business skills in a fast-paced industrial environment.

The rate of pay will be $30-32/hr.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist with project planning and scope development by gathering information from operations, engineering consultants, equipment suppliers, and contractors.
  • Support the preparation of project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and business case documentation.
  • Assist in tracking project progress, budgets, and schedules, and help prepare project status reports.
  • Support the preparation of bid packages, tender documents, and contractor evaluation materials.
  • Assist with procurement activities, including obtaining quotes, tracking material deliveries, and maintaining project records.
  • Participate in project meetings, take meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor project activities and gather information for project teams.
  • Assist in coordinating contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Support project documentation, including drawings, specifications, change requests, permits, and regulatory approvals.
  • Help ensure project activities are conducted in accordance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various Walker business units to help identify operational challenges and support the development of practical solutions.
  • Assist with permit applications and correspondence with municipalities and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, estimates, schedules, and technical documentation for new projects.
  • Maintain organized project files and records and assist with data analysis and reporting activities.
  • Perform other project-related duties and special assignments as required.

Here’s What You Need

  • Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related post-secondary program.
  • Previous co-op, internship, construction, manufacturing, or industrial experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
