About The Role

Dine Source is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the AF Civil Engineering section of the AFLCMC BES organization. We are looking for a candidate with strong systems engineering and communication skills. The candidate must have the knowledge, experience and thought leadership required to provide full-spectrum Systems Engineering and Capability Delivery Team (CDT) services to support the planning, design, test, update, documentation, implementation, development, and sustainment/fielding of CE's automated systems at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, Montgomery, AL.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Review and update logical and physical architectures.
  • Review and update System Architecture Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Review and provide feedback on program technical documentation including delivered CDRLs from support contractors.
  • Review and update program System Engineering Plan and Tailoring Worksheets per Business Capability Acquisition Cycle (BCAC) and Business Process Design (BPD) guidance.
  • Validate that development, test and production environments are in accordance with agreed upon parameters by the Government Lead Engineer or Program Manager.
  • Create detailed network diagrams and flow charts using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Support PMs and Lead Engineers in validation and updating of MICT.
  • Support validation and update of BES Operation Baseline Database (BOB-DB).
  • Support technical troubleshooting with support vendors and service providers – e.g. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) or Amazon Web Services (AWS) – and ensure root cause analysis is captured post incident.
  • Submit required documentation (as defined by Air Force Network Integration Center (AFNIC) to establish an Air Force Evaluated Products List (AF EPL) record number for all COTS software when required.
  • Provide certification progress updates to AFNIC as required to ensure the status of the AF EPL record number remains current.
  • Monitor/track status of applicable AF EPL record number and take action as required to keep products moving towards AF EPL certification.
  • Maintain current status of all certification activities related to COTS software and ensure status is available to the CDT via dashboard, spreadsheet, or another proposed format approved by the CDT.
  • Advise CDT and track all hardware and software expirations/end of life dates at least 12 months prior to end of support.
  • Test the installation and execution of COTS software in a virtual environment using AFNIC provided/recommended processes and test tools (i.e., MKRunTest, WireShark packet capture, packet analysis tools).
  • Utilize appropriate resources to include, but not limited to, analysis tools, vendor websites and forums, and websites to analyze test results to determine potential vulnerabilities and document vendor's use of Open-Source Software (by vendor, product, and version).
  • Collaborate with vendors and AFNIC as required to validate/mitigate actual vulnerabilities, test patches, re-test products after implementing mitigation actions, and document results as required by AFNIC to ensure products are added to the AF EPL.
  • Monitor certified COTS software (to include embedded Open-Source Software) for newly identified vulnerabilities and work with vendors to develop, test, and implement patches or other mitigation actions.
  • Assist CDT license manager or other designated CDT personnel to ensure COTS software is available to users for download via the established distribution process.
  • Assist the PMs and Lead Engineers to manage and provide oversight on Developer Security Operations (DevSecOps) pipeline processes as required (e.g., executing developer pipeline playbooks in the production environment).
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.
  • Qualifications:
  • Must have a Secret clearance or ability to obtain!
  • Possess expertise in JAVA and SQL
  • 3 to 15 years of experience and an MA/MS degree
  • Performs all functional duties independently
