About The Role
Corporate Finance is looking for a Specialist to join the team where you will be involved in a diversified array of activities. Your key responsibilities will include financial analysis, transaction and process support and reporting across the various duties of the Corporate Finance department such as carbon management, financing, financial risk management, merger & acquisition and business planning. Acting in a dynamic environment, your agility will be key in ensuring timely delivery of accurate data and recommendations for your management to make informed decisions. You will also play an important role in supporting origination and execution of financial transactions, as well as support the relationship of Cargolux with its banks and other advisors.
Task and responsibilities
- Contribute to Cargolux's sustainability strategy by forecasting CO2, identifying decarbonization levers, and assessing impacts and costs. Follow developments in carbon markets and ensure compliance with mandatory schemes.
- Participate in developing the Financial Risk Management policy regarding Carbon Management and Interest Rate Risk.
- Support and prepare for the Risk Management Committee by conducting market research and identifying/measuring risk exposures and mitigants.
- Assist in identifying funding needs, evaluating sources (asset-backed financing, corporate debt, revolving credit), assessing and negotiating proposals, and preparing business cases and transaction documentation. Manage post-closing financing structures and follow debt market developments, focusing on sustainable finance.
- Support M&A activities by assessing deal opportunities (financial, market, competitor analysis), making recommendations, and modeling company valuations (DCF, comparables). Coordinate due diligence with internal and external stakeholders.
- Be involved in Financial and Business Planning by forecasting KPIs, assessing impacts on income statements and balance sheets, and conducting sensitivity analyses. Perform market trend, competitor landscape, and capacity analyses.
Essential Requirements
- Master’s degree in Finance
- CFA, FRM, ACI or ICMA certifications will be considered as an advantage
- minimum 2-3 years of experience in a corporate finance department in a large corporate or consulting firm will be considered for a Specialist position
- Excellent technical skills in financial risk management, financial analysis, financial modelling
- In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Excel, Power Point and Access);
- Programming language (Macros, VBA, SQL) is considered a plus
- Familiarity with the wide range of financial products (e.g. derivatives, structured products, …)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; quick learning
- Flexibility, adaptability
- Good communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Fluency in written and spoken English; other languages are a distinct advantage
Working Conditions
- Full-time, permanent position based in our HQ in Sandweiler, Luxembourg
- The seniority of the role will depend upon the candidate's profile (Officer or Specialist)
- A Certificate of good conduct (Casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of positive selection
Under the supervision of the Director Corporate Finance, the Specialist Corporate Finance will carry out the following tasks:
Primary Tasks
CO2 Management activity
- Assist in the management of the obligations the Company faces under the various carbon trading schemes (EU ETS, UK ETS, CORSIA, CH ETS) with respect to all regulatory requirements and risk management aspects, according to Risk Management Committee decisions
- By monitoring CO2 certificate markets and factors influencing prices; develop and propose strategies to manage CO2 cost component resulting from CV's flight activities
- By executing agreed deals after having evaluated offers from counterparties
- By providing decision making information to the CO2 Management function as well as to the top management of Cargolux and other divisions
Cargolux Business Plan and CO2 Forecast model
- Support the team in the preparation the annual Business Plan of Cargolux
- Prepare, develop and maintain the CO2 Forecast model of Cargolux by
- Monitoring the CO2 related regulations of the various carbon trading schemes (EU ETS, CORSIA, etc.)
- Implementing any update of the above regulations in the model
- Forecasting of the related cost (including the SAF cost)
Project Finance activity
- Carry out investment analysis with a focus on the SAF related investments
- By selecting relevant financial and technical advisors and organize relevant contracts
- By performing Due Diligence
- By performing target valuation
- By formulating recommendations
Secondary Tasks
M&A activity
- Support and participate to the development of the M&A and investment strategy of the company
- Assist in defining the acquisition criteria that will be used to identify potential targets
- Carry out constant market monitoring and sourcing/identification of deal opportunities
- Assist deals execution: including investment thesis, credit analysis, financial modelling, valuations, oversight of all due diligence streams, financing, drafting of offers, negotiation, documentation, structuring, internal approvals, post-deal integration, etc.
Financing activity
- Participate in Aircraft/Simulator/Spare Engine and Corporate financing and re-financing, with following focus:
- Regulatory watch (for ex. ESG financing framework, EU Taxonomy, Banks requirements etc.)
- Monitoring all ESG finance trends and applications for the company
- Management of existing financing structures (SPV management, cash flow management, etc.)
Interest Rate risk management activity
- Identify the relevant risk and exposure
- Monitor Interest Rate market development
- Maintain Interest rate risk management model (Hedge ratio)
- Prepare Weekly report to ExCom and RMC basic document
- In any ad-hoc projects within Corporate Finance or Finance division as assigned by his line manager
