Position Summary
The RN Operations Supervisor provides supervision of the daily operation of a single designated medical unit or two similar designated medical units of limited size requiring registered nursing expertise, assuring goals and objectives are obtained through the planning, implementing, and directing of programs, procedures, systems, and support personnel. Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment, planning, nursing diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards and Park Nicollet policy.
The RN Operations Supervisor interviews, hires, evaluates, coaches and disciplines support personnel for designated unit. Directs and supervises the daily operation of the designated unit. Assists in the development and implementation of new services, programs, procedures, systems, and materials for designated unit. Coordinates employee’s orientation and staff development programs. Administers staffing schedules for the designated unit ensuring appropriate coverage is maintained using regular and float personnel. Assists in the development of salary administration plans and budgets for designated unit. Develops and maintains the designated medical unit's emergency response readiness, ensuring appropriate emergency action plans, operable equipment and supplies are always available. Ensures currency of staff CPR skills training. May perform direct patient care activities. Performs other functions as assigned.
Work Schedule
- 1.0 FTE
- M-F Business Hours 8am-5pm
Required Qualifications
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Graduate from a course of study in nursing resulting in an associate degree, diploma or baccalaureate degree and at least one year related supervisory or three years related non-supervisory experience required.
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Current state Registered Nursing License required
- BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven leadership skills in organizing, planning, and directing an operation and its staff.
- Intermediate level computer/keyboarding skills required, including but not limited to email, word processing, spreadsheets, and calendar.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and ensure safety of patients.
- Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Personal Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier, Printer, Defibrillator, Various Health Testing Devices (specific to the area of specialty), Blood Drawing or Injection Devices, Thermometer, and Blood Pressure Equipment.
