About The Role

This role supports the Publishing Services Magazine Design team by providing creative solutions that support originating departments objectives. They understand the needs of originating departments and work cooperatively with them to provide creative and design services in close collaboration with the art director, senior design staff, and originators.

  • Solve design problems & project problems on small - x-large projects.
  • Develop concepts that represent a product, a message, a story, or an experience that solve business and communication objectives, accounting for the design complexities and the associated production requirements.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and other creative disciplines to execute business and design objectives
  • Support senior design staff on more complex projects
  • Work under minimum supervision on the major aspects of a project's development and progress before work is submitted to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide bids, work duration estimations, and art direction to outside illustrators for small-x-large projects.
  • Work within multilevel approval structures to successfully interpret business needs, research and stakeholder requirements to produce products and experiences that tell compelling stories.
  • Maintain the appropriate quality and creative standards within schedule and cost limitations in-house and with vendors.
  • Delivery of product under tight deadlines and project constraints

This role is NOT responsible for the following

  • Content editing, writing, project management, or people management (hiring decisions, formal performance appraisal, time approval, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of experience, demonstrated through a professional portfolio. Please provide link.
  • Required proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Mainly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Experience in Adobe Premier, AfterEffects, and Figma a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical visual thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team players who collaborate on projects.
  • Strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver under tight deadlines and project constraints
  • Prior experience creating content for children or working in an editorial publishing environment a plus.
  • Strong drawing skills and creativity a plus.
