About The Role

As the Next Gen Pastor, overseeing Youth & Young Adult, provide ministry, social connection and pastoral care to youth, young adults and their families. As Associate Pastor, provide pastoral care to congregation, meet with those in need of counseling, care as needed. Work in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Senior Associate Pastor to facilitate the growth of the congregation. Assist in accomplishing the vision of the house. Raise the standard of excellence and strengthen the community and the spiritual focus of our church family.

ASSOCIATE PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build relationship with members of the congregation
  • Counseling appointments with congregation
  • Assist with announcements, offering, etc. for services
  • Occasional preaching (Wednesday nights, segments on Sunday morning and women’s events)
  • Attend administrative meetings, including bi-weekly Staff Meeting and bi-weekly Ministers Meeting
  • Be an active part of the On-call Pastoral Rotation

PASTOR YOUTH MINISTRY

  • Oversee Follow JV and Sr. High Ministries
  • Counsel with Youth and Parents as Needed
  • Provide Pastoral Care to Youth
  • Plan and Coordinate a Weekly Youth Service for 6th-12th Grade
  • Develop and Maintain a Leadership and Volunteer Team for Youth Group with purpose and connecting points
  • Participate in Providence Chapels, pursue a presence and relationship with both Providence School and local schools, reaching out to those youth in the New Life area
  • Create Social Activities for Youth
  • Oversee Sunday Morning Follow JV Service
  • Coordinate, Plan and Promote Annual Youth Mission Trip(s)
  • Coordinate, Plan and Promote Annual Youth Summer Camp
  • Coordinate with Worship Pastor to raise up and Develop Youth Worship Team

YOUNG ADULTS / COLLEGE MINISTRY

  • Work with Lay Leadership to build New Life Young Adult Ministry
  • Coordinate with Lay Leadership to connect graduating youth to NLYA, facilitating their transition and connection to that ministry
  • Support Lay Leadership with Pastoral support, teaching and participating as needed.

ADDITIONAL / SEASONAL DUTIES

  • Participate in the initial planning of special services (Christmas, Easter, Missions Sunday, etc.), providing creative input and ideas, attending planning meetings for these special services
  • Related additional duties may be added or reassigned as the needs of the ministry grow and shift.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required / Strongly Preferred

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Pastoral Ministry, Christian Ministry, Biblical Studies, Youth/Children’s Ministry, Christian Education, Leadership, or a related field.

Formal theological education or ministry training consistent with NLCF’s Pentecostal/Spirit-filled theological identity preferred

Demonstrated biblical literacy and ability to teach Scripture accurately and effectively.

PREFERRED MINISTRY & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible ministry experience, preferably including leadership of children, youth, young adults, or a combined NextGen ministry.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, develop, and pastor volunteer leaders .
  • Experience developing a comprehensive discipleship pathway from childhood through adolescence and into young adulthood.
  • Experience leading large-group services, retreats, camps, conferences, missions trips, and special events.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop ministry teams rather than simply execute programs.
  • Experience partnering with parents and families in the spiritual formation of children and students.
  • Strong preaching/teaching ability, particularly the ability to communicate biblical truth to different age groups.
  • Experience managing ministry budgets, calendars, facilities, and resources.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with pastoral staff and other ministry departments.

  • Evident personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a consistent devotional life.
  • Baptized in water and committed to the mission, vision, values, and Statement of Faith of NLCF.
  • Evident dependence upon and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
  • A genuine pastoral heart for children, teenagers, parents, and families.
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, and emotional health.
  • Ability to disciple others and reproduce leaders.
  • Commitment to biblical standards for personal conduct and leadership.
  • Ability to minister across generational, cultural, and socioeconomic differences.
  • A demonstrated calling to NextGen ministry, not simply an interest in working with young people.
  • NLCF describes its overall mission as leading people to “a new life in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit,” while its youth ministry specifically emphasizes intimacy with God, relationships, cultural influence, and learning to hear from God.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a unified NextGen ministry that moves children and students from “attending church” to becoming lifelong disciples of Jesus who serve, lead, and influence their generation.
