About the team

To expand the local footprint and secure local technical capabilities, a Defense Service Centre (DSC) is launched in Sweden as part of Thales Sverige AB (TSAB). We are looking for a head of the DSC, responsible for putting in place the right organization, facility, and staff to manage and execute various contracts and to deliver services to operational users. This ramp-up of the DSC needs be designed and executed in close collaboration with the Services Segment in Hengelo, as Thales Nederland BV (TNL) is the solution leader and delivers the acquired systems to Sweden. Moreover, the head of the DSC should guard the overall naval services strategy in-country.

With the aim of securing synergies during the first few years, the head of the DSC will also act as the In-Service Support Project Manager for the services projects and hence serve as a liaison officer between TSAB and TNL. As ISS Project Manager you are responsible for assuring all activities related to the delivery of our service contracts are on-time and within budget.

This position will be the key-driver to realize a strong and solid local footprint and secure our deliveries and commitments in Sweden. With your skills, experience and personality you will be able to connect people, challenge the project office team and the project managers in reaching the agreed deliverables, and engage the different functions in NL, Sweden and DGDI to set up a strong local organization. If you are successful, within a few years, the size and the capabilities of the local team will have significantly increased and you will be able to hand over your responsibilities to someone locally.

About your future job

In the context of ReArm Europe, Sweden is heavily investing in its’ defence capabilities. In support thereof, Thales is expanding its’ presence in country. As head of the Defence Service Center and Project Manager you are responsible for setting up and managing the ramp-up project in order to put in place the right organization, facility and team to deliver services and deliver the ISS project(s).

Your main responsibilities are to

  • Define and implement a suitable working environment, incl. a secure room, an accredited IS/IT, in Sweden (together with the security manager)
  • Determine resource demand and supply, and staff your team(s) accordingly
  • Define and implement the service(s), in close collaboration with the customer
  • Engage the various stakeholders in Sweden, NL and DGDI and coordinate the efforts of the different functions in support of the DSC ramp-up
  • Lead the Project Management Team partly located in the Netherlands and Sweden
  • Provide a controlled and predictable execution of the project on-time, on-quality and within budget
  • Present your progress in monthly project reviews
  • Serve as outpost in Sweden for the Product Segment Manager of the segment Services but also for other parties in Netherlands as the bid and sales teams

  • Have excellent, professional project management skills with experience in working on complex projects and/or operations
  • Are pro-active, accurate and solution oriented; (make it happen)
  • Have strong soft/interpersonal skills, ability to coach and engage/develop teams in a multicultural environment; (together)
  • Have strong communication skills, both in spoken word and writing
  • Ensure all business planning and reporting is published in accordance with Business directives e.g. Project Management reviews (PMR) and On Time Delivery (OTD).
  • Report to the Country Director of Thales Sweden and the Product Segment Manager Services within TNL.
  • Drive Quality, Cost & Delivery performance through close working with other functions.
  • Are able to have an overview of complex situations and identify risks and opportunities, manage multi-task environments and solve problems
  • Building and maintaining excellent internal stakeholder relationship across Thales, as well as with customers
  • A relevant Master degree, International Experience, leading teams of technical professionals and fluent in English
  • IPMA certification is a plus
