Job Title: UI Architect (Frontend Platform & Micro-frontends)
Location: India
Experience: 15+ Years
Reports To: Engineering Manager
About the Role & the Team We are building a foundational Core UI Platform Team to own, scale, and govern the frontend ecosystem for our enterprise product suite.
As the UI Architect, you will set the technical direction for our frontend platform and guide engineering teams in building scalable, secure, and maintainable user experiences. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines architecture, platform ownership, technical governance, and active contribution to core platform capabilities.
Your mission is to evolve a robust frontend platform through reusable components, shared libraries, developer tooling, and CI/CD practices that help product teams deliver high-quality software faster and more consistently.
Success in this Role Success will be measured by
- Adoption of shared platform capabilities.
- Reuse of common components.
- Improved engineering productivity.
- Reduced technical debt.
- Consistent architecture across teams.
- Platform reliability and performance.
- Faster onboarding of frontend engineers.
- Successful framework and dependency upgrades.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
- Frontend Platform Architecture: Own the technical vision and architectural integrity of the micro-frontend ecosystem, including routing, shared state, configuration, and integration patterns.
- Design Systems & Shared Libraries: Lead component-driven architecture by evolving shared UI components, design-system packages, and non-visual utilities that are performant, well documented, and strongly typed.
- Hands-on Execution: Write high-quality, production-ready code. Tackle the most complex technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and core feature implementations alongside your Technical Lead and UI Developers.
- Tooling & CI/CD: Own frontend build systems and GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Improve dependency management, container builds, and code-quality gates to support fast, reliable deployments.
- Governance & Standards: Establish and enforce standards for code quality, automated testing (Jest, Playwright), accessibility, and security. Introduce formal processes like Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to document technical choices.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Define practical standards for using AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to improve frontend engineering productivity, code quality, and developer experience.
- Mentorship: Act as a force multiplier. Mentor Technical Leads and Senior UI Engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, and elevate the overall engineering culture.
What You Bring (Must-Have Qualifications)
- 15+ years of software engineering experience , including architectural ownership of enterprise-grade frontend platforms or large-scale UI products.
- Expert-level React, JavaScript & TypeScript: Deep knowledge of React architecture, rendering optimization, modern JavaScript, and advanced TypeScript patterns.
- Frontend Architecture: Proven experience designing and delivering component-driven, micro-frontend, or platform-based frontend architectures. Experience with single-spa or similar orchestration frameworks is preferred.
- SaaS & Multi-Tenant Architecture: Strong understanding of designing secure enterprise SaaS applications, including authentication, authorization, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and multi-tenant architectures.
- State, Data & API Management: Strong expertise in client-side state management, data-fetching strategies, and type-safe client-server API contracts across distributed UI modules.
- Build & DevOps Expertise: Strong understanding of modern frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite) and experience writing/managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD highly preferred).
- Quality Engineering: Strong understanding of frontend testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, Product Managers, and Backend Architects.
- Platform Engineering Experience: Experience with monorepos, internal package publishing, design systems, Storybook, and reusable developer tooling.
- Frontend Governance: Ability to define and drive standards for theming, accessibility, linting, formatting, dependency management, and architectural consistency across multiple teams.
- AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar tools, with the ability to define practical usage patterns for engineering teams.
Good to Have (Preferred Skills)
- Frontend Observability: Experience instrumenting client-side RUM, error-tracking, and distributed tracing (e.g., OpenTelemetry) to support platform reliability metrics.
- Backend for frontend / Lightweight Service Ownership: Familiarity with lightweight Node.js, Express, or equivalent services that support frontend configuration, aggregation, or API composition.
- Legacy Framework Migration: Experience modernizing applications that carry legacy CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap) alongside a component-driven design system.
